I think he is way beyond citing plausible deniability.

Ha! Trick response.

All those times he knowingly lied, he was talking to the camera. If the American people happened to hear the lies that went from the camera out to their TV sets, that's their own fault.

Day 1... lie.

Quantum physics tells us that a lie is just a truth told in the wrong universe.  If Spicer is guilty of anything, it is being in the wrong universe... oh, and also lying...

I was about to say. Reagan made bald-faced Republican lying a thing. It's been thirty years. This is nothing new.

Alternative facts.

2017-09-21 10:07:45 AM
A. "I have not knowingly lied to the American people,"
B. "I'm dumber than a bag of hammers"
C. "I'm completely full of shiat"

Pick one Sean.

The president and a small group of people know exactly what he meant.

You should go full-on John Dean.

Testify.  And talk publicly about how the GOP and conservatism will be best served by everyone coming clean about what Trump did and does.

Become an advocate for cleaning the MAGA swamp out of the body politic and started fresh with honorable leadership.

Do it loudly and proudly.

Yup.  That's my go-to example whenever anyone says that the administration was shooting straight from day one.

Mr. Spicer's statement is truthful. At every press conference he was blackout drunk and so he has no memory of any of the lies that he told.

At least he's being shunned by the media establishment.  Emmy appearance aside, no one wants him for contributor positions, and that's where the real gravy is to be made after a gig as WH Press Secretary.

Pretty much.

If you're not a liar, you're so retarded you lack basic bodily functions, and clearly THAT isn't true, so....

To be fair, it was his job to lie to the American people.  I think that the public could tell that he wasn't always comfortable with it...most people wouldn't be.  Remember Ari Fleischer?  Now, there was a man could lie with ease.  A true pro.

See, I bet he pointedly excused himself from every meeting where an official communication took place. He never TECHNICALLY had solid FACTS on what he said. He received a briefing, and relayed that briefing information. If it was false... *Snek Shrug*

The man isn't stupid, and he knows he was lying. The fact that he keeps up the narrative means that either he's being blackmailed / threatened or is getting a huge payoff for his silence. Or both.

The very first press conference you gave you told us that:

There was no way to measure the attendance at the inauguration.

and

It was the largest attendance of an inauguration ever.

Both of these can not be true, you lied, you know you lied, shut the fark up, asshole.

2017-09-21 11:33:17 AM

naughtyrev: "This was the largest audience to ever witness an inauguration, period, both in-person and around the globe"

You just don't get what the man was trying to say.

If you combine the in-person viewings with the TV and internet audience, then clearly it was the largest audience ever. How can we know this? It's simple. The population of the world is higher now than it was the last time we had an inauguration; and it is is simply not possible that everybody in the world wasn't paying attention to what America was doing that day. Therefore Spicer didn't lie, he was just inelegant with his language.

/that hurt to type.

Is it actually lying when he's attempting to state the position of his boss, even if that position is completely wrong?

Did he preface all of his press conferences with the fact that he was speaking for the president?  In that he, he wasn't really lying, was he?  He was honestly delivering the president's lies.

He took a job with the Trump administration.  That is all you need to prove he is slimy.

Everything else just reinforces the fact.

The thing of it is, this particular lie MIGHT have worked if not for his Day One Debacle.

Press secretaries regularly prevaricate, shade the truth, and misrepresent.  It's what they do.  And after they're done, they write their books, do their interviews, and make their usual noises about having "never knowingly lied to the American public."  And the American public, having already moved on to other shiny objects, usually says "yeah, yeah, whatever, you prevaricating sack o' shiate.  Here's your job on Fox/MSNBC.  Now where's mah football game?"

But two things have ruined Spicer.  One, he got famous for lying.  Like, super-famous.  Like "someone won an Emmy by playing me lying" famous.  That's hard to walk that back.

And why did he get famous?  Because, on the first day of the job, he lied about something ridiculously stupid.  Not the subtleties of healthcare reform.  Not the vagaries of a tax bill.  He lied about the size of a crowd.  He lied about something that everyone could see with their own two eyes.  From that moment on, no matter how nuanced his future alternative facts were, he was forever cast as Sean "Lying McLiarson" Spencer, First of his Name.

So now he's doomed to wear the scarlet clownshoes now and forever, dancing and prat-falling furiously for our amusement until his ankles are worn down to bloody stumps...

Hmm.  That took a dark turn.

To sum up - Fark that guy.  He bought his ticket, etc.

Yes, if you know it is completely wrong and you repeat it you are a liar too.
