As for the idea of 'outlawing witchcraft'....no.  its a religion that's just as valid as christanity.  to even suggest the idea of outlawing ANY religion is offensive to anyone who believes in the rules set down in the US constitution.

I think the lines and implications just after were also...disturbing.

So if we don't salute flags or participate in "patriotic" events we are fighting the magical spell that makes our country great?  Yikes.

I mean, I suspected we'd eventually start going there.  But, yikes.

Fox News. It takes a lot of time and a lot of scrubbing but eventually you can wash off most of that unclean feeling it leaves behind on you.

"Is this legal? Can you run around and cast spells? Are you allowed to cast spells on people? Is there any federal regulation of this?"

I guess if you buy into one flavor of bullshiat the rest of them also seem plausible.

I have to plead ignorance here, but I've heard lots of people call themselves a witch.  I have gotten so many confusingly different answers about what a witch is, that I'm wondering if you guys have considered starting to have different denominations of witches (or something like it) so I can figure out which witches are which?

Tucker should ask Senator Perdue about casting spells on the President. http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2016/06/david-perdue-obama/486587/
Or Mike O'Neal the Kansas GOP Speaker of the House http://cjonline.com/news-legislature/2012-01-18/topeka-ministers-call-oneals-ouster#.TxhE0PmWrcs

lets just say that there's a LOT of different 'flavors' of witch.  its not a monotheistic faith, there's no 'central authority' that says 'this is what makes a witch'.  its more like a collection of respected (and less than respected) elders who more or less mostly agree on what makes one a 'witch'.

example - I'm considered an 'eclectic solitary witch', but I also run with several local covens and my own circle of friends and practitioners.

coven politics can get extremely annoying...but it varies over time and who's involved.  I avoid the politics as best I can, which for me is weird given my hobbies in that regard.

that aside, if the republicans think they can outlaw witchcraft, they're going to get one HELL of a fight.  we're not getting stuffed back in the broom closet just because a bunch of evangelicals got their knickers in a twist.

Cool. I'm an eclectic solitary witch, of the kitchen sink variety, myself. A friend of mine called herself a Decoherent Pantheist once, and that fits me pretty well too.

Tucker is trying to get energy feedings, and whether it's an opposing or supporting energy doesn't even matter for him and his ilk is my opinion.

Was that real tv? I mean, I know all of these shout shows that try and pass themselves off as "news" have to try for ratings,  but did that just seriously happen?  As in, that was a real interview, and not some lead-in for a new episode of Jerry Springer?  I'm........i can't .....how close is Elon Musk  to colonizing mars now?

it generally goes something like this:

pastor - "witches are debill worshiping whores damned to HELLFIRE!'
witches: 'say, aren't you the guy cheating on his taxes and having a secret homosexual love affair with your chef?'
pastor; 'LIES AND HELLFIRE!  BURN THE WITCH!'
witches: 'yeah, yeah, we know the drill.  tell the truth or highlight the hypocrisy, get burned at the stake for witchcraft.  blah blah woof woof.'

That, and fundamentalist sexual policy rather resembles a tribe of baboons... one male wants exclusive sexual access to all the females of the tribe, whether or not they're close blood relatives.

authoritarians don't like open source ANYTHING, religion or otherwise.  the idea that a woman could not only be free to do as she will is terrifying enough, but that she might have a religious obligation to be true to herself AND an entire faith behind her to back that up is something that makes a lot of authoritarian evangelical men completely lose their shiat.

Heh.

I think part of the confusion stems from the fact that pagan types often make up their religion as they go, either because they're solitary (without a coven) or because the practices are flexible by nature.

So if someone says they're a witch, they're a witch.  Even if they do religious practice totally different from the next witch.

don't get me started on the christian hypocrisy or we'll be here for months.  technically, what the evangelicals are doing there is a form of witchcraft (theurgy).

Not to mention, the Bible has spells, charms, hexes, and even necromancy in its pages.  All favorably, too.

well yeah, I mean most of it WAS stolen from pagans after all.

Wow... I am sure that I am not the first to suggest this, but did Tucker Carlson eat paint chips or get dropped on his head as a baby? It might explain a lot...

Besides, obviously running around casting spells on people is protected by the 2nd Amendment.

mostly true I suppose....but there ARE differences worth noting.  for example:

pagans: 'f*ck if we know what we're doing, but hey lets try some stuff and see what happens!'
christians: 'we know everything and its all part of the plan!  oh, and if you don't do what we tell you then you'll burn in hell forever after.  Peace and love y'all!'  [waves vigorously] [smiles]
Islam: 'we're not with them'
Judaism: 'uh, yeah you are.  we're stuck with 'em just as much as YOU are.'

And the Bible itself can be used for magickal work. Psalm 23 in particular.

They may not outright outlaw pagan religions, but maybe their outward expressions and tools.  Things some witches (not all) work with, like tarot, may be outlawed. It really is funny because in practice, that would be impossible. They can't outlaw trees, or salt, for instance.

As for that Carlson tool, yes there are regulations on spellcasting.  It is the witch's own conscience and will, which is informed by many factors, that moderate their actions. So in essence, yes to your questions, but boy howdy it isn't something anyone can pass laws on unless we really start adapting laws against thinking.
