There are going to be some stellar New Years parties at all the law firms in DC and NY this year.
Big, beefy bonuses all around.
I think I'll invest is some cigar companies.

Unlucky for Mr. Flynn, the White House ethics office, once people got wind of their plans, decided NOT to reverse a longstanding ban on anonymous donations to legal defense funds of White House staffers, pretty sure that would apply to "former" staffers as well

I'm not sure their regulatory regime can really do anything to stop a "former" though.  The guy was bound to report foreign gov't contacts to the DoD also.  That worked really well...

Plus a big bag of cash showing up on their doorstep...whose gonna know, amiright?

Please give money to Michael Flynn

to help him with the bind he's in.

He really didn't mean to lie

And, he doesn't know the reason why.

Who'd have thought he'd be in such a bind

because meeting with Russians slipped his mind.

How much does it cost per transaction and can I "donate" just under that?

I just want to do what's best for the country.

/I'm asking seriously

2017-09-18 01:55:07 PM
hmmmm, wouldn't donating to a traitor's legal fund when he's likely facing corruption charges A) not teach him a damn thing since he's relying on others to pay his way to freedom, and 2) you'd be helping a known traitor. Do you really want people to know you donated to traitors, comrade?

Guess he'll just have to off shore it.

Someone from Russia, Turkey, or Crete will hire him to speak at an event for 5 minutes and ta da! he'll have the funds he needs to cover his expenses.

As a private citizen, he's free to accept anonymous donations (c.f. Scooter Libby) but per TFA this fund will not.

Not that it matters; there are plenty of billionaire right-wingers who would have no problem publicly supporting this asshole, and if they do they can launder their contributions through the GOP or a superPAC. These guys know how to get around such regulations without breaking a sweat; they helped write the laws and they fund the politicians who control the regulatory agencies.

The only thing anyone should do for Michael Flynn is demand that the Federal Government swiftly reach a determination in the investigation surrounding his betrayal of America.  Was it illegal, or is he being allowed to use the Republi-pass to avoid prosecution for what more than half of Americans consider unlawful behavior.

And to those of you that don't think Flynn's behavior was unlawful, just change the name Flynn to Clinton.  It's Treason now, isn't it?

Lawyers that represent clients in congressional inquiries get about a thousand dollars an hour (so I've read). Why bother with a lawyer at all? "Yup, I did it. Yup, that too." I don't believe there is any jail time involved. Just own up to your bad behavior and save a bundle. If the questioning gets too tough there is the always famous "I don't recall" answer to fall back on.

Where did I read that "Lawyers that represent clients in congressional inquiries get about a thousand dollars an hour"? I don't recall. . . .

Funny thing is, by itself, that would be a felony and add to his legal troubles.  You know that pesky "Emoluments clause"   the one that legal scholars like to  harumph back forth about, and opine on  whether Trump's Hotels are a violation of it ?   Well it also applies to Flynn as a comiissioned officer of the US Military:

"No person holding any office of profit or trust under them, shall, without the consent of the Congress, accept of any present, emolument, office, or title, of any kind whatever, from any king, prince, or foreign state. "

and a Commission counts, and commissions are a lifetime thing, so even in retirement, they count ergo:
Under interpretations of the Emoluments Clause elaborated by the Comptroller General of the United States and the U.S. Department of Justice Office of Legal Counsel, retired military personnel are forbidden from receiving employment, consulting fees, gifts, travel expenses, honoraria, or salary from foreign governments without prior consent from Congress, which  according to  37 USC sec 908 requires advance approval from the Secretary of State and the Secretary of the relevant branch of the Armed Services.

In other words Flynn is ALREADY screwed because of his acceptance of money from RT to be a commentator  and his speaking fees to show up at the banquet honoring Putin put on by RT, to say nothing of his work for the Turkish government .   Taking more money now would only make things worse.  Frankly this is why my money is on Flynn as the most likely to flip. Manafort may be more of a Merc, but Mueller has Flynn DEAD to rights on several Felony counts and related perjury offenses

Retired commissioned military are never "private citizens" accepting a commission is a life long thing, retirement notwithstanding

Russian bots have a distinct right wing flavor.  Makes sense as it looks like they've been writing 2/3rds of Fox News' programming.

Perhaps, he can ask Trump for some of that unspent $25 million inauguration fund?
