That Navy guy just got a new handle: End Zone Crasher

At my college in the late 1970's the Army "Golden Knights" did a parachute/recruiting thing. The LZ was what passed for our "quad (though it was more of a trapezoid)."

The college's skydiving club decided they could do the same thing. It wasn't quite "WKRP Turkey Drop" bad, but almost. The first jumper had smoke ejectors on his boots, and was whooping and yelling as he approached the LZ, cutting back and forth by playing with the chute risers. Dumbass nearly took a guy's head off with his boots because he was too low and was cutting back to get to the LZ. I decided to watch the rest of the jumpers from a greater distance.

Or Wall-E

Probably too young for "George" (as in George of the Jungle)

I think that counts as a safety.

Heard in the stands from an older man to his son, "That wouldn't have happened if he kept the Word of Wisdom." The son replied "You mean he had been drinking or smoking or coffee?" The dad replied, "No son, he wouldn't have gone skydiving at all. That plane was good, his jump was ... unwise."

The best handle I ever heard for a navy pilot was SLAG because the first time he was catapulted off an aircraft carrier he screamed like a girl.

Was the jumper a Mormon? Was his faceplant caused by impure thoughts? Did the crowd pray for him? And if so, why didn't god answer? Have you ever seen so many white people and boy howdy ain't it creepy?

These questions and more that no one give the slightest shiat about on this week's episode of "Things That Happen In Utah That Aren't News Nor Are They Farking FARK"

/ next week we'll have: Polyamorous Magic Underwear and God's Lubey Loophole

LOL. Demo skydivers at work. For those not in the know, demos like this are often done by the owner/operator and his cronies, of which maybe 2 have bothered to stay current, while the rest are currently part timers at best. And no one can actually spot worth a damn anymore now that we've had 30 years of Ram Air canopies. Usually doesn't matter, but stadiums are a little tricky with obstructions.

Hehe, Navy.

The first Golden Knight at the Ohio State game this weekend got it perfectly at the 50, right in the middle of the Block "O." No hyperbole at all, it was perfect. Just did a quick YouTube and couldn't find it but I'm sure it is out there somewhere. Not sure what happened with the Navy guy there without knowing the conditions or any other potential complicating factors but I'm sure the guy is damn good.

I've never had any civvie skydiving issues but the closest I ever came elsewhere was in jump school where a guy sky sharked me and all of a sudden I was "running" across the top of his chute. It was over before I even registered what had happened and before I had a chance to shiat myself. That was the closest I ever came to disaster and now that I think about it I've never personally witnessed anything overly bad but damn, YouTube is full of that stuff.

Hell my phones screen ran outta room from all the ads yahoo loaded, if they had tried a bit harder they might have squeezed one more ad into the one pixel they left me

If I had to pick any wall anywhere to run into while parachuting, it would probably be that particular wall since it is entirely covered with a foot or two of padding.

Personally I'd have went for the one the cheerleaders were lined up in front of...

I like how the first parachutist is striking a victory pose as the same time the second one is crashing.

A few years back, a parachutist who was supposed to land at UNC's stadium instead landed at Duke's stadium.  (Duke sucks.)  There was bad weather, they thought they missed the stadium, then saw a break in the clouds, saw a stadium, and went for it.  But it was the wrong stadium.

And air currents.

The obstructions screw up the air currents. Looks like they had a fair bit of headwind that suddenly disappeared. Maybe it even reversed.
Some smoke on the ground would probably have beneficial, that would've given them some idea about the stuff they were going to fly through.

Haha, nice.
A friend of mine was supposed to land with the match ball at a soccer field. He also picked the wrong soccer field.
The little league players on that field were beside themselves with delight, so at least it was good for something.
