May trying to steal a chicken from Sobey's always be news in the Atlantic Provinces. God Bless!*

*And as I always say, if there is no God to bless, then we must do the job and be the blessings we would otherwise get for free.

How hard is it to find somebody in Newfoundland?

He's also alleged to have assaulted a security guard who confronted him, before returning the chicken and fleeing the store.

While I certainly don't condone assaulting a security guard, wouldn't it be easier to just tell the idiot "Er, why don't you just keep it..." after he pulled the chicken out of his pants.  Sure you don't want to encourage other idiots but it's not like you're going to put it back on the shelves to resell... I'd hope anyway.

Big place.  Lots of people with legitimately purchased chickens down their pants, as is custom.

Why steal that in St John's?  I could buy as good as that way down in Bonavista.

And the Martians said...wonder what happens if we remove the rest of  his brain...
And the Newfie stopped singing, stood up, looked around and started singing again:  "Alouette, gentille alouette..."

If he had three more his pants would fit like a glove.

Also, "lord tunderin" is a Newfie expression sometimes said as "lord tunderin' Jesus/jaysus/jeez b'y."
If you look it up you see a lot of interesting and colourful variations.

I was going to go with the classic
"Is that a chicken in your pants, or are you just happy to see me"

I just learned a new Newfie expression recently. Describing someone as "crooked" instead of cranky/grouchy. I like it.

The guy in TFA looks crooked.

CSB:  so in the Navy we had a base at Argentia, NF, apparently about an hour or so outside St. John's.  It was said to be pretty awesome;  beautiful scenery, great day trips and hiking and shiat, and despite the remote-ness, a fun duty station.

My personal goods got shipped there, I had orders there, and bought some winter gear and awesome Vasque boots.  I was all set to go to Canada!  and then about 2-3 weeks prior to shipping out, the Navy closed the base and my fat ass ended up in Norfolk VA for 3+ years.  So some of my personal possessions made it to NF but not me.....

friends that had been said i missed out of "screech" and "fish and brews" which i guess is like, shiatty bar food or some shiat.  or smoe kind of NF delicacy.

Fish and brewis was the one Newfoundland food I tried and didn't like when Mrs. Eel and I stopped in Twillingate, but having an iceberg the size of a Tim's franchise slide into the harbour a hundred feet away made up for it.

Apparently you take hard bread, soak it, some salt cod, soak that, add some diced fatback and cook the mess up in a pan. Tasty enough, but chewy.

Never was a fan of fish & brewis myself although I think I was the only one in the family that wasn't.  I think it is the soggy hard tack (if that isn't an oxymoron) that turns me off of it.  I'm more of a Jigs' Dinner fan myself.

Voice of the Common Man's story

Thanks.

I know this is a 'slippery slope' but if someone is stealing food (not steak & lobster, etc.) they are obviously hungry, just let them go. I do expect to get flamed by the 'fark police' but I don't care.
