Trump's discovered that he gets more, and more positive, attention when he works with the Democrats, and when he reacts favorably to humanitarian policies.

This is not going to go well for the GOP.

nope. It's not. The base is pissed, the conservative talking heads are pissed. There's probably talk in some conservative circles for a coup. And then when they finally decide to rid themselves of a meddlesome priest and install Pence, Mueller will throw down and give evidence of wrongdoing by Trump et al. *and* Pence.

Let me see if I have this straight -

Trump is going to rescind DACA and hold it over Democrats heads in order to get border security and border wall concessions from them. Then he'll put it back in place and claim it as his own?

Heh... Dems are playing this one well, so far. Playing to the orange buffoon's vanity and insecutity might just pay off.

Hope they fark him on funding his vanity wall though. : )

He's actually agreed to separate border wall funding from DACA, although he does want more border security.

Most all Republicans never wanted him, but figured they could use him as a "useful idiot" to pass their agenda. What's wrong with Democrats doing the same? All he cares about are his ratings, which are currently in the toilet, but it's looking like they get better every time he works with Dems. Make some stuff happen for the next six months, then you can run on all the stuff Republican Congress Critters wouldn't support, but Trump did. You'll alienate his base from the party.

Agreed...as long as they're not giving up much or farking over their base to make the deal.

Might just be able to mitigate some of the damage this buffoon and the GOP are going to do at the very least.

He's trying to gauge the amount of applause each decision gets. Trump needs a call in voting hotline and a live primetime TV show for big decisions.

It's really quite simple:  He was for it before he was against opposing it and then he had a change of heart and was against it until  he reversed opposing those against it.  Now, he's all for whatever it is he'll decide he's all for when he decides it is time to be all for something.

Because senility...

I can't remember after which presidential crisis it was, but the absolute most pathetic thing I've ever seen politically was an advertisement on CNN begging callers to call in and press 1 to indicate they support the president.  No other option was given, you apparently couldn't call in and press 2 to show your non-support.  Our president is that shallow that they setup a bullshiat number to have people call to prop up his ego.

Only if the base throws him to the wolves over the scandal - in effect agreeing with Mueller.  And the Mercers promise not to bankroll their primary challengers.

The idea that House Republicans have courage is comical otherwise.

Pence has jumped through hoops to keep far the hell away any time something stinks. Don't get me wrong: he is going to get splashed with some of the dirt, but I legitimately think he's given himself enough plausible deniability to sail when the oil hits the anus.

I just hope the people don't lose sight of the fact that this guy's wildly unqualified both in experience and temperament to lead anything.

Even if he suddenly started fellating the Democratic Party we can't leave someone as wildly idiotic and unpredictable as this in control.

there is a relatively small chance he could be the guy to end up signing a single payer law.

Yes its small, but those chances are far greater with Trump than with any other GOP presidential candidate.

And the resulting shiatstorm would be a thing of absolute beauty.

if he's lost the base simply by working with Democrats, they'll see it as a means to an end of ridding themselves of the "traitorous cuck"

I assume that's the only thing they'd call any republican caught working with Democrats on anything

Trump is the worst and I mean this to in now way suggest he's not the worst.

But getting DACA or an equivalent done through an act of legislation would make it much tougher to undo.

and that's just Flynn. Every member that had to go through the transition team that was caught lying or doing something illegal prior to their appointment will splash him.

whidbey: The "deal" should have been to leave DACA in place.

DACA was crap if Trump is actually correct that what he discussed with Schumer and Pelosi included a pathway to citizenship (big assumption.) In that case it sounds like Trump will push for the DREAM Act + a budget increase to Border Patrol and ICE (which is something plenty of Democrats are already on board with anyway.) Leaving it to Paul Ryan to either break the Hastert Rule at Trump's insistence or reject a deal both Democrats and Trump are on board with.

2017-09-14 12:21:22 PM
So what I gathered from that article is that Trump said any deal with DACA would have to include wall funding, that he was open to a DACA deal with the wall issue coming later, that he called Ryan this morning, and that Ryan hasn't talked to him since last night.

This isn't moonwalking, this is spinning around like a dog with an itchy asshole.
