Comey voted for Bernie Sanders.

So the line that the DOJ is taking is that they don't want to talk to the Senate because Mueller is already running an investigation?    It's hard to tell if that's good or bad.    It's not like the Senate is ever going to do more than tsk sadly in the direction of the White House.

I suspect they gave a reasonable response as cover for unwillingness to cooperate.  The Senate has been coordinating with Mueller's team to ensure they don't interfere.  It's Mueller's call to make, not the DOJ's.

Good luck the next time you need funding Justice Department.

It is hard to understand the protocol on these things but I would think the only person who would have grounds to request that this be deferred would be Mueller himself.

They'll also do whatever they possibly can to poison any legal consequences.  Keeping Justice people away from those turds is the right move.

The Senate leaks like a sieve. Good call by Mueller.

I didn't see a link here on Fark about it but I just read about Sessions saying he was going to start polygraphing NSC members to find teh ebil LEAKERS!!!

So this is completely and utterly unsurprising.

I mean... shyote, my surprised face has been in the shop for months now and I haven't even noticed it's absence.

JFC. Wake up and stop white knighting Trump. He's not a fellow Republican, not even a real politician, and he's definitely not going to repay your loyalty.

Let me see, actual, trained investigators or Senate toadies that want to grandstand, obstruct, and spin....

Decisions,  Decisions

National Security Council is chaired by the President. Its members include the Vice President.

Not really seeing a down side here....

@GinSaint...

Thanks. I was here but must have missed it.

@silly...

Oh I'm sure the Hell Elf didn't mean THOSE guys (despite the fact one of them has proven repeatedly to be as leaky as a Russian hoor in his own employ).

FTFA: ..the Senate judiciary committee has not yet given assurances to the special counsel's office that it could have unfettered access to the transcript of the interview it conducted last week with the President's eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., saying that the full Senate must first authorize the release of the information to Mueller's team.

Any time Republicans refuse to do something simple by citing tradition and protocol like "the full Senate must first authorize the release of the information" you can bet your ass they're stalling, lying or both.

From what I heard, he's not much into really paying for anything

Well, nothing that doesn't come from Eastern Europe and pretends he's handsome.

I don't understand why they won't let the Republican controlled senate have access to the resources they need to investigate the Republican party! Justice must be carried out!

See, here's the thing. Congress is the boss. The President runs things on behalf of Congress, after being selected by voters, or shareholders, if you will. Congress is basically the Board of Directors, also chosen by various groups of shareholders. The FBI exists because Congress, at the behest of the shareholders, authorized them to exist. They are under direct management by the DOJ, but that can be changed and the FBI itself could be disbanded by Congress if it saw fit. They decide what the proper functions of management are and the tools that management has available, and these tools can be taken away or altered if they are found incapable of being properly overseen by the Congress.

Any time I see this kind of thing where an Executive Branch agency like the NSA or the FBI snub Congress or get caught actually lying to Congress I wonder what it would take for Congress to simply delete them and order a new agency that is prohibited by law from hiring the managers from the old agency as punishment for refusing to let Congress do their jobs.

And the more he keeps the other investigations and their leaky ass participants in the dark,  the better.

Well, there you have it.  Mueller doesn't want amateurs farking with his chess board.  Congress cannot put people in jail, and that is Mueller's priority.

As soon as they figure out a way to get the SCOTUS to refuse to hear the suits that would be filed or to rule that Congress has absolute authority to obstruct justice.

All they'd have to do is repeal the relevant laws and/or withhold funding.

It's not about truth. It's about control.

They just want to scare people until they fall in line or resign so they can replace them with more obedient toadies.

Eric Holder repeatedly flipped off Congress and was even held in contempt of Congress. Did they ever withhold funds? No.

it will all come out eventually. I'd really like to read the transcript that was promised concerning the dossier. ten hours of questions and answers might make for an interesting read.
