I'm sure the Hall of Fame is crying about that T.O.

I still remember when OJ was abducted into the Hall of Fame.

I DGAF. Pretty sure the Pro Football/NFL/whateverthefu*kit'scalled  HOF doesn't either.

I didn't think T.O. was a fan of respect. Isn't that why he kept getting shuffled around the league in the second half of his career?

2017-09-13 10:34:19 PM
Maybe they're worried that after the first year he'll take his plaque and demand a bigger one.

The only Hall of Fame he belongs in is the Primadonna Hall of Fame

Where is this "NFL Hall of Fame" you speak of? I am not familiar with such an establishment.

He had hall of fame talent with practice squad sense and humility.

He'll start his own HoF, with hookers and blackjack!

And workouts on the front lawn!

On one hand, he was one of the two best receivers in the league for the entire part of a decade.  On the other hand, he was a black man who hipped and he hopped and he played the rap music which causes the brain damage.

I know where I stand on this.  If only Donald Trump had become president.  Sigh.  *sigh*

Maybe if you were as good a teammate as you were a football player, things might be different.

Ok, so don't vote him into the teammate hall of fame. But he sure as heck belongs in the football HoF.

TO was a jerk, by most accounts at least, but he was a beast on the field.  In 15 seasons, he averaged more than 10TD a season, more than 1000 yards a season, he's 3rd all time in receiving TD's behind Jerry Rice and Randy Moss, he was the 5th players to ever reach 150TD, and he holds numerous franchise and league records.  Not only is he the only player to ever score a TD against every team in the league, he's also scored multiple TD's against every team in the league.  He's a HOFer, and it's a scandal that he's not in yet.  He's arguably one of the best to ever play the game.

And I don't even like the guy.

Hopefully he takes that POS Randy Moss with him and they both never see the insult the HOF without buying a ticket.

Really makes you miss the days when John Smith out of Bakersfield, Georgia would enter the endzone with an authorized two-foot dropstep and calmly hand the ball to the officials.

I know people like to point out that he murdered his wife and three kids during a drunken argument, but at least he didn't showboat for the camera like those two assholes.

It isn't, really, though, because football has stupid low limits on numbers of inductees and WRs typically take a long time to get in. He'll get there, he just wasn't allowed in on his first time on the ballot.

It's not the hall of good teammates and pleasant personalities. Dude was never on a team I rooted for but he was one of the most talented receivers of all time and has the numbers to back it up. Sort of silly to keep him out. That said, he's not eligible until next year. I guess he doesn't have to be first ballot but if he was in have no argument. If they are making a douchebag rule that's kind of lame. And if they applied it retroactively let's just say there would be plenty of room for new guys because there's a lot of hall of fame douchebags.

Yeah, the HOF *should* be about what kind of player you were, not person. I would say his biggest drawback as a player was he could be inconsistent. He could make some spectacular catches then flub a pass right to him but his stats should speak for themselves though. I hated when the Cowboys brought him on board but he had some highlight reel catches there too and I clapped despite how I felt about him as a person. He was a competitor that wanted to win.

And he'll get in, I have no doubt. But I imagine the voters wanted to send a bit of a shot across his bow about that whole, "one of the worst teammates of all time" thing.  Seriously, the only way he could have been worse was if he had rolled some hand grenades into the middle of the locker room.

I imagine there's similar POS's in the Hall of Fame, and I imagine that they benefited from not playing in the 24/7 media-soaked atmosphere that we live in.  But I'm honestly having a hard time thinking up a bigger locker room cancer than TO. He'll get in, but he won't be a 1st ballot inductee. Hell, Tim Brown's gotta get in first, anyhow.

If T.O. gets in before Tim Brown, the place *should* get burned down

It is the hall of great leaders.   Leadership is a quality that is beyond stats, and TO, rightfully or wrongfully is perceived as having been a major source of negative leadership.

that was always the difference between the football and baseball hof. Baseballs supposedly takes the person's behavior into account where football was about the stats and only about the stats

This

He may be a douchebag but he is a hall of fame douchebag based on his career numbers

And if Randy moss goes in this year without TO it would be sad

If you want to see an *earned* Hall of Fame, check out the LPGA's.  Win x majors and y LPGA events, you're in (there is a point system).  Don't have the points?  You don't make the cut.  Obviously it would be harder to contsruct the same for a team sport with different positions, but the LPGA Hall can point to *exactly* why they are there (oddly enough, that means they officially qualify while being active players.  Not sure when they are inducted).
