That was so cringeworthy in real time it made me open up the Fark thread just to be sure it wasn't just me.

Is he the tool who was sideline reporting?

Dippsh*t

I honestly thought they were giving a special needs guy an opportunity to say a few words on the sideline. Had no idea who he was.
Guess I was wrong.
Still was an odd minute.

He says right off the bat that he's 29 years old, then mentions beginning elementary school on 9/11/2001....

...so, what'd ESPN really expect from a dude that didn't start elementary school until he was 13 years old?

2017-09-12 01:39:54 PM
The time of his life? Vance was likely glad he didn't poop himself. Dip wasn't prepared and shiat the bed when the lights went on. I'm partially blaming Dip for not being better prepared. As a professional broadcaster, that is the big leagues and you better have your shiat in order. I mostly blame ESPN, for not making 100% certain he was up to the task, and for likely letting the marketing department influence the decision to put him on the air when he clearly wasn't ready.

Because it's free, requires no sacrifice, and it's what the noisy people want.

I keep hearing that it's because English is his second language, but if you watch his hotel video, he sounds high, drunk or both so what's the excuse there?

The hotel video is literally 2 minutes of nonsensical babbling that goes nowhere

2017-09-12 02:23:28 PM
You know what?

I like having people that aren't professional in charge of meaningless sh*t like sideline reporter jobs.

Let's put them in those positions instead of what we're currently doing.

2017-09-12 02:25:35 PM
Wow, could he be a bit more dramatic?

I saw this debacle last night. I made the comment that this whole announcing crew irritated the shiat out of me because it was complete amateur hour. Amateur hour doing Monday Night Football.

There are plenty of broadcasters who have been working small college games, etc. for years to hone their craft. 95% of them would have been better than the crew working Monday night. Bullsh_t these three got to be on the big stage when there are so many who are much more deserving.

The guy sucks as an NFL sideline reporter.   That about covers it.

2017-09-12 02:50:41 PM
1) I'm not saying that Sergio would have been better at calling a game, but I would have rather had him in the booth instead of Rex Ryan.
2) What was the over/under on how many times Rex stared at Beth Mowins's feet?

2017-09-12 03:07:58 PM
What the hell is wrong with this guy? What does being 29, Mexican, elementary Colorado blah balh 9/11 have to do with him freezing in the headlights? And why are these coaches historic? Deflecting much?

He didn't say he started elementary school, he said he was "studying (at) my elementary school."
8th grade is considered middle school for most, but my elementary/middle school served K-8 and was named <Town name> Elementary School. So, I also consider my 6-8th grade school to have been at 'elementary school'.

I don't think apologies were needed, but ESPN should have done it first if anyone was going to do it.

He wasn't ready....just like I'm not ready to play for the Seahawks.

Well he played all the cards, Minority, 911, born here, proud mexican but I'd work on the english a bit more. Will the next ESPN sideline reporter be a Asian that speaks broken english ? Dipp , next time you beg get on your knees it works better.

That seems like a lot of drama for a sideline reporter at a football game that most of the country doesn't watch.

2017-09-12 04:00:19 PM
The entire broadcasting team was terrible, from the play-by-play down to whoever was doing audio.

The ESPN layoffs are being felt but hey, at least they get to keep Stephen A. 🙄

I'm still pissed that ESPN fired John Clayton.  On the bright side, he still has his radio show on the ESPN radio affiliate in Seattle.

I can recommend an ESPN personality who has Asian heritage, and his English is perfect:

Robert Lee

Although you don't want him covering games in The South, because that might offend some people.

You are clearly racist against jr.-high age kindergarteners & disrespectful of the sacrifices made by so-many Mexican sideline reporters on 9/11...

Remember ESPN shiat canned a lot of talent several months ago.  That crew was ESPN scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Oh god he was turrible then beth and rex were horrible later, beth does not need to be calling games, she was lost most of the game

Rex Ryan isn't some schmuck they pulled out of the back room.

He's a schmuck they're paying a lot of money and was supposed to be a big draw

And done during the debut of the first female play-by-play announcer in Monday Night Football history.

/She has plenty of college experience.
//And she'll do a few games for CBS, too...unfortunately, the first one will be Browns-Colts...

No one enjoyed watching unranked Big 10 games because of her.
