Wasn't Wheet-a-Brex supposed to free up all sorts of monies for things like National Health and other services?

How do police unions work in the UK? Sounds like we might want to copy their system.

Farking Clown Shoes: Meanwhile, inflation has risen to 2.9%.

The problem is that due to Tory austerity, for the past 7 years, all public service pay rises have been capped at 1%. The only public services to get above 1% now will be the police and prison services, which is in line with conservative "law-and-order" fellate the cops kind of thinking.

Meanwhile, public service workers in the NHS, for example, are still getting stiffed, and cuts to policing overall lead to stories like this:

Essex Police 'too busy' to solve Leigh-on-Sea theft

A businessman was told police officers were too busy to investigate after £26,000 worth of garden furniture was stolen from his company.

/Theresa May has plenty of magical money trees to pay the DUP to prop up her government, however.

I worked at a company that froze all raises for 5 years because of "reasons"

A 1-2% might be complaint-worthy for some, but many Americans would appreciate it.

I worked at a place like that once. The owner was a woman, and her nephew worked in the IT department with us. The owner's husband, in the middle of the raise freeze would often come in and loudly talk to his nephew in front of everyone about how much he hated the beach house they just bought, because the plants kept dying because they weren't there enough to water them consistently. He also bought a new Harley in the middle of the freeze, and a Shelby Cobra replica that he had custom built for himself. Both of which he brought in to show off to the office at the same time they were telling the employees that there was no money for raises again that year.

They've since gone out of business, everyone quit giving a shiat about the place and basically told the owners to fark off.

Yeah, that's pretty high on the terrible human being list.

In my case it was at least somewhat justifiable. I worked for a certain dot com that sold Homes. dot com.

The bursting of the housing bubble definitely impacted that business. Don't have a whole lot of positive energy for that place, but at least they didn't use the crash as an excuse for layoffs.
