To be fair, it isn't a giant can of Fosters so they feel betrayed.

(yes, I know)

So they have ignorant moralistic assholes in Australia, too. Huh.  And they always seemed so cool.

The beer and the baby are poisonous.

/seriously, who gets angry over that?

Hopefully they haven't noticed this one.

What's the big deal? It was too early for scotch.

2017-09-11 07:53:43 AM
That's not good. Kids are squirmy so he could have spilled the beer.

2017-09-11 07:55:38 AM
Critics shoulda shopped in a martini for the baby to hold.

2017-09-11 07:56:41 AM
Us Yanks misunderstand. The Aussies are offended he didn't buy the kid one.

2017-09-11 07:57:27 AM
I would think with all the time they spend running away from everything trying to kill them, Aussies wouldn't have time to be busybody ninnies over harmless shiat.

I'm honestly impressed with the multitasking.

Nonono, the beer is poisonous, the baby is venomous.

2017-09-11 08:01:53 AM
For some reason I am not upset at all.

2017-09-11 08:03:19 AM
Relax, he's a Foster's father.

2017-09-11 08:03:33 AM
What?  Did he rip the head off the baby and drink it?  Then put the beer to bed with a nappy?  Happens all the time.  It's Australia.  Kid wasn't expected to live past kindergarten.  Either trapped and eaten by giant spiders or sucker punched by kangaroos.

2017-09-11 08:07:01 AM
In a slightly related note, the person who first thought to put a sippy cup lid on the beers sold at certain sporting events should be given a Nobel.

Benevolent Misanthrope: So they have ignorant moralistic assholes in Australia, too. Huh.  And they always seemed so cool.

Australia has had a serious problem with a growing crop of said assholes as time wears on.   Have a look at the returns on searching "Australia internet censorship" for example.  They've been moving in some damn weird directions politically lately.  Not that I even feel like I should be typing that as an American right now, cringe.  Still though, just because I'm standing in a heap of shiat doesn't mean that they aren't shoveling one of their own together.  Not close enough to the politics there to be sure if it's an analogous thing to the U.S. with a whacked out minority playing games, or if it's a genuine "We want to be moralistic assholes" social shift.  Sort of hoping for the former as it's slightly more reparable.

Dammit, that was my line.

/shakes tiny fist, wondering where the rest of the baby is.

That beer and the baby are probably the only two things in Australia which isn't lethal to people.

The difference is that the rest of Australia promptly told them to STFU. Even his political enemies knew better than to try to make anything of it.

Australia's weird. From a rules-making perspective, if anything, they're an even worse nanny state than Britain is. There's this massive streak of children-thinking that's totally at odds with their international appearance.

And I see both real complaints where covered:  Wrong kind of beer, kid didn't have one too.

Good job everyone, our meme dispensing efficiency is at an all time high.

What Australian 'isn't' pictured while holding a beer?

Those I could see people getting weird about.

But the PM?  Sheesh.  Some people just look for things to be offended by.

2017-09-11 08:22:28 AM
Our PM, Truffles, is an ineffectual prize dickhead. Just like the one before him, the Mad Monk. And the one before him. And the one before him. And the one before her, who was also the one after her. And the one before him, right back to the first PM in 1901, whose nickname was Toby Tosspot.

I'm not surprised he could manage to hold a beer and a baby, yet still manage to pull himself off.

Schmerd1948: Critics shoulda shopped in a martini for the baby to hold.

You're clearly not familiar with Mr Turnbull, no way anyone would believe the martini wasn't for him.  He's Aussie old money, a Bush Sr who got into the big chair a bit younger.  (As it was I had to squint because I was sure that was an oversized cup of scotch he was holding...)

Beg to differ, the proportion of moralistic shiatbags is fairly constant over time and if anything going down relative to the total population; what changes is how much power they wield.  (Australian censorship laws were, are, and remain dumb, but they're also about as lax as they've ever been.  Back in the day we kicked the architect of the Sydney Opera House off the project and out of the country because Customs found porn in his suitcase.  Apparently people used to print that shiat out, who knew?)  They run factions of both major political parties as well as three or four minor parties all their own, so mere voting doesn't guarantee anything--we're just not very good at keeping the motherfarkers down.

Why?

I mean I know it's what do they call them, bogan or whatever,

It's like that time Obama put Dijon mustard on a hamburger.  Monsters, the lot of them.

While the hate is stupid.  I've got to say that the caption is a pretty good summary of our Mal's government.

The man thinks that NOT drinking a beer counts as multi-tasking.

2017-09-11 08:27:09 AM
How is beer formed?

2017-09-11 08:29:51 AM
At least he didn't mix up the wine and baby while playing "Goon of Fortune" - THAT would have justified complaints.

Here in Louisiana he would be driving a pickup truck with the kid in his lap and a beer in one hand, and no seatbelt.  Also, that would no be considered multitasking unless he was also going through the Mickey D's drive through.

megarian: Awww. That's a sweet picture.

Yup. If I had one like it with either of my grandkids I'd spend mucho dollars framing it, and proudly hang it on my wall. Probably have enough copies made that I'd just start mailing them to people randomly picked outta the phonebook.

/i don't hang family pictures on my walls
//does still use a phonebook

The whole reason it is called "Med-X" and not "Morphine" in Fallout 3 is because of Aussie censorship.

They are pretty preachy when it comes to media censorship.

Eyebrows were raised at a football game this weekend when PM Turnbull spent hours in a two-handed drinking frenzy. At one point he tossed an empty bottle towards the field and scooped a baby from the arms of a nearby fan, reportedly mistaking its head for a fancy tropical drink served in a coconut.  When asked for comment, Mr. Turnbull replied, "I can't get nuffin' frew me bloody straw."

You know when you drill a hole in a watermelon and put a bottle of vodka in it so it's all...watermelony?

The kid is watermelon-sized is all I'm saying.

There's a small subset of the population whose hobby is being outraged. Ignore them.
