It looks like private individuals are renting out their properties, not Trump's organization directly.

But this is still a solid WTF?  "Birth tourists?"

They may reconsider when they realize the horrendous bureaucratic and financial burden of taxation that the US Government generously bestows on its citizens, home or abroad.

Then again, if you're paying $75k for the anchor package experience, taxes are unlikely to worry you anyway - that's for poor people.

Recently, Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Tex.) has beens sounding the alarm about a new and insidious plot involving so called "terror babies." Infants are sometimes known to be terrors in their own right, but this diabolical plan involves terrorists sending pregnant women into the US to birth their America-hating spawns. The mothers and their kids then return home where, the congressman says, the children "could be raised and coddled as future terrorists"- and later, "twenty, thirty years down the road, they can be sent in to help destroy our way of life." Gohmert, a member of the newly formed Tea Party Caucus and a supporter of a bill stemming from the "birther" conspiracy about the president's citizenship, has used the far-fetched terror baby conspiracy to bash the Obama administration's immigration policy and its legal challenge to Arizona's draconian law. "They figured out how stupid we are being in this country to allow our enemies to game our system," he said during a debate on the House floor in late June. "We won't do anything about it we'll even sue a state that tries to do something about it."

COOPER: Representative Riddle, you told my producer that pregnant women are coming here as tourists, having babies, and then going back home-quote-"with the nefarious purpose of turning them into little terrorists, who will then come back to the U.S. and do us harm." You said it's part of an organized terrorist element and could cost us lives. Where did you hear that?

RIDDLE: That is information that is coming to my office from former FBI officials.

COOPER: What former FBI officials-I mean, what evidence is there of some sort of long-term plot to have American babies born here and then become terrorists-raised as terrorists overseas and then come back here?

RIDDLE: Well, actually, I-when your folks called me in the preliminary, that was part of the conversation. They did not tell me that you were going to grill me for this specific information that I was not ready to give to you tonight. They did not tell me that, sir.

I think it' the "or abroad" bit that is a bit egregious. The USA is one of very few countries (single digits, I think) that requires citizens living abroad to pay Federal taxes (exceptions for low income, etc., notwithstanding).

I was a little ambiguous : earning abroad as a US citizen is a nightmare already, and becoming worse all the time. Even if you reside in a country with a mutual income tax arrangement with the US, the bureaucratic burden of calculating and proving what you don't have to pay is horrendous, and even then there is a real danger of receiving an arbitrary demand for some other pound of flesh of additional earnings.

My advice, given in appropriate USAian language : "FTS, man".

. . .and the definition of "low income" is "under $101k as of 2016". . .so citizens with everyday levels of income don't pay taxes on overseas income.

Your income has to be in the 89th percentile or higher for it to even come up.

Also, birthright citizenship in the US is derived from a Constitutional Amendment (the 14th), and a very longstanding SCOTUS precedent says that they can't deprive people of birthright citizenship based on ancestry (United States v. Wong Kim Ark, 169 U.S. 649 1898). . .because Congress already tried the "Your parents were from a country we don't like, so you can't be a citizen even if you were born here" and the courts smacked that one down hard well over a century ago.

Yeah, the far-right wants to end birthright citizenship in the US, but that would take a constitutional amendment or a MASSIVE change in SCOTUS doctrine by overturning a longstanding landmark case that every 1st year law student reads as a foundation of American law (and the pipe dreams of a far-right constitutional convention rewriting the whole constitution are less practical than people think)

This is why I do support changing the amendment to something like Finland, and many other civilized countries, have regarding birth citizenship. As long as the child gets citizenship of the parents, then that is the only citizenship they get when born. However, to prevent "stateless" people, if they are unable to get obtain citizenship in their parents home country then they are given citizenship in the birth country.

Only kids whose parents are from a couple whackjob places, like North Korea, would be eligible for citizenship.
