So my takeaways are GT needs to protect the ball and defend against deep passes late in the game.  Tennessee might want to figure out how to defend against the run - as some other schools in the SEC have good rushing games.

I am surprised they did that well running the triple option against a powerhouse.  Defense really came to play (for a good chunk of the game, anyway).

A kicker would be nice, too

Dammit.

Teams from Atlanta tend to do blow those leads, though.

Say what you want about Tennessee......you usually get your money's worth watching their games lately.

It's not just bad defenses, either.

Can any football team from Georgia hold a big lead to the end?

Lots of college teams this weekend celebrating the 10 year anniversary of the Mich-App State game in their own special ways:

Take away either fumble and Tech cruises to a win.  Tennessee made the most of their opportunities and earned the win.

The big takeaway for Tech is despite having a new QB, losing their top two rushers, and their opponent having months to prepare, they set rushing records against a Top 25 team.  Defenses should be very nervous about Tech.

You know who else was a football team from Georgia who scored 28 points and still blew a seemingly insurmountable lead?

GT is fun to watch. Every team knows what is coming, yet they still put up 500 yards in rushing. Defenses are built to stop the big play pass. I watched them nearly beat the eventual BCS champ Seminoles a few years ago. Good Stuff.

Tech should have banked a few points from this game against another Tennessee school:

Not everyday you beat a team 42-18 in time of possession and lose either.

No, you didn't.  Florida State and Georgia Tech didn't play in 2013.
