No it isn't.

How is this not Facebook? It's not government run, but it's certainly government manipulated. Convincing people that they are the enlightened ones is how you do it these days. Things were obviously different 80 years ago.. the ways information is created, moved and consumed has changed drastically.

Look at my grandson.  Isn't he precious?   So much better looking than that little monkey-boy you have as a grandchild.  But then, what do you expect when your son marries such a homely woman?  God only knows what dirt farm he found her working on.

At its best, Facebook, like all social media, is a personal propaganda tool.  It exists for the primary point of people showing off to there "friends" how smart, funny and insightful they are.  And anyone with a couple of brain cells bumping around in there skull knows that everyone is full of it.  so its secondary purpose is as a vehicle to talk about folk behind there back.

For any company based of this formula to declare itself a arbiter of truth is absurdity beyond being comedy.

And this is exactly like flooding social media sites with fake, repeated information. Right.

That's what makes it insidious and pervasive. Governments take advantage of that.

It seems as though 10% of my feed these days consists of original content from my actual friends.

And that's with me blocking hundreds of annoying apps and pages, and muting the worst offenders on my friends list.

And that's your lesson for today, folks, farts always win.
That right there was an air biscuit.
That was a real ass flapper, if I do say so, myself. Some fine colon bowling.
Some real rectal turbulence. Wayne, you gonna weigh in on this?
Well there's nothing better than a fart. Except kids falling off bikes maybe. fark, I could watch kids fall off bikes all day. I don't give a shiat about your kids.
I wish Gail could hear that fart. I've got a couple pals who'd appreciates it too.
Wouldn't it be kinda neat if you could like, catalog your farts?
What for?
Well, I feel like if other people could hear that crack splitter it could have a positive impact on their lives.
That may be the nicest thing everybody has ever said about me.
You should be able to keep track of and record your farts. And your friends' farts.
Like Facebook?

That is pretty much the whole point of propaganda, although as noted above, if you can convince both before they talk to each other, they'll reinforce each other and drop any question of the propaganda in the first place.  People have learned to question fake news from plenty of sources, but "fake old ladies" is something pretty unique to facebook and appears to take longer to develop resistances to than normal.

It stopped being just a platform when they starting thumbing the scale and selling access to the platform as part of their bottom line.  It was a platform when everything on was just there.

Now there is a multibillion dollar product per quarter in making sure everyone is the right amount of happy/sad/afraid/horny enough to buy their advertisers products while transparently providing behavior information to Facebook's other customers.

Just as how most internet tools are ostensibly platforms but really are sanitized tools to extricate and direct behavior.  More Huxley less Orwell.

On a possibly related note..why is "business insider" always the majority Facebook "trending topics" (at least to me)? I've never visited the site nor indicated any preference for it. Just seems odd and a bit unbelievable that so much would be "trending" from that one particular source. Is there some business connection between Business Insider and Facebook?
