"We've seen this coming," he said. "Donald Trump is not an outlier; he is a culmination, a logical conclusion of the rhetoric and tactics of the Republican Party for the past ten, fifteen, twenty years. What surprised me was the degree to which those tactics and rhetoric completely jumped the rails."

This is the inescapable fact: on November 9th, the United States elected a dishonest, inept, unbalanced, and immoral human being as its President and Commander-in-Chief. Trump has daily proven unyielding to appeals of decency, unity, moderation, or fact. He is willing to imperil the civil peace and the social fabric of his country simply to satisfy his narcissism and to excite the worst inclinations of his core followers.

It's a rerun of the Rush Limbaugh tv show. Care to guess how long that lasted?

Patience. Patience and vigilance. I love how everyone has been involved and responsible. The VAST majority. The idiots calling for death are few and not helping.

Keep it snarky and keep involved. Show up in 2018 and 2020. Leave the rest to Mueller. If Mueller disappoints, DO NOT RIOT. I mean, you are going to riot, but try not to break too much sh*t.

Because it is true, he's the biggest assholes in the entire galaxy.

Yes, we could see it before it was magnified. Now, we suggest you look at it with protective eye wear to keep your health intact.

I've honestly never seen a situation that changed somebody. Maybe college or the military? But almost all human experiences just magnify your inner psyche and bring it to the forefront. Really high pressure environments like this just peel off layers of your personality and strip you bare. And then there you are. And very few people are able to readjust how they interact with the world when they are so exposed and defensive.

I thought Obama was decent at that. H. Clinton has been remarkable at that. W actually was adept at changing how he processed information and shifting gears on some occasions.

But I really haven't seen many people experience transformative moments. People are pretty damn static. Especially at 70 whatever.

I've seen people change. Not instant, but definitely a transition. A pot-smoking ICP "I carve shiat in my skin with a staple" deadbeat cousin turned into a helicopter mechanic with twin daughters and an ustanding guy after the slow death of his mom.

Also medication can seriously turn your ass around. Mom was not diagnosed with bipolar for a long time and she was terrible, but when she got on medication, and had to do a few other things, she mellowed the fark out.

And I do think propaganda changes you. Millions of people have lost their parents to Fox news. Take a person and only give them a diet of Talk Radio, Fox News and Infowars, and they will become paranoid, angry and miserable 24/7.

Hmm. My experience with people on cocaine is that it doesn't intensify their personality. Unless being an asshole is a prerequisite to doing cocaine...

Everybody has asshole in them. It is just most people have that filter that keeps the asshole in. Certain things cause those filters to drop and let the asshole out.

This is easy to forget, and seems to be getting forgotten a lot. We're treating this jackass like he's a middle-aged man at BEST, still plenty of gas left in the tank and still plenty of room to grow as a person.

The most I ever saw someone grow past 70 was my grandpa, in a drunk moment, admitting to my dad that dad was right about what a mistake the Vietnam War was.

Have you seen the Twitter Bot Trump's Feed? It was set up by the Washington Post and basically retweets everything that he sees in his timeline. It's really terrifying, especially since the only sources of information he relies on are twitter and Fox News.

I just turned 24, and I remember in 3rd grade getting the impression he was an idiot clown (maybe that was the start of the apprentice? not sure.) He never did anything after that to change my opinion.

There was absolutely no way to ignore this guy was a certain type of way, unless you are also a certain type of way. The only rational excuse is they just wanted change at any cost, which I disagree with, but it at least does make some kind of sense.

I thought it was just us NJ/NY who really knew what a douchebag he was, but if you in Kansas can see it, there really isn't any excuse for anyone.  I hadnt known how far his assholery had been projected (prior to the apprentice, I suppose).  But yeah we've known this since the 80s. I'm glad we weren't the only ones.  That means maybe there's hope.
