In his decision, Watson harshly criticized the government's definition of close family relations as "the antithesis of common sense."

It could be argued that all actions after November 8th, 2016 are the antithesis of common sense.
My grandparents are long since dead, but fark you to anyone that tells me my grandparents weren't close personal relatives. I went to dental school in Ft. Lauderdale. Dental school was absolute misery for four years. My grandparents lived in Boca Raton and I was able to see them whenever I wanted. The endless supply of corned beef sandwiches, matzo ball soup and latkes made school made school tolerable.
I hope Trump's remaining years are spent poor, isolated and extremely lonely. An M.I. would be splendid as well.

Why not also allow anyone within six degrees of separation from Kevin Bacon

We all know the whole point is to stop anyone at all from coming to America; so clearly the rule is too lax, and a baby in its mother's womb is probably not a close enough relative to be allowed entry.

Trump not considering grandparents to be close relatives makes a certain amount of sense, given his own family history.

Do you really think that Ivanka's kids want to spend any more time with peepaw than they're forced to?

Trump thinks the only thing grandparents are good for is an inheritance

Now watch in amazement ladies and gentlemen as "Pro Family" Republican Conservatives twist themselves into knots explaining how your Grandmother and Grandfather are not in fact your close family.

On the one hand, yeah, dick move by the current administration.

On the other hand, I suppose how many degrees of separation constitute "close" should be defined, and I'd say gp's count.

*shrug*

In my opinion:

Spouse, children + spouse, grand children + spouse
Siblings + spouse, Siblings Children + Spouse, Siblings Grandchildren + spouse
Parents
Grandparents

Under the INA, grandparents aren't considered immediate family. But I would think they should be considered a close relative just to visit.

Good start, but it's biased towards older people. Grandchildren's spouses? Those don't exist for me (yet), while I'm quite close to an uncle, aunt, and their kids (my cousins).
