Didn't David Bowie and Mick Jagger do a song about this?

I feel bad for the guy in the article that got diddled in a pee soaked elevator.

Time for that trip to Trump Tower?

FTA: "Before, the guy might have thought, 'I better not p- in the elevator because I might get caught up in the system.' Now, there's no fear of embarrassment or recrimination."

I'm betting that the number of people who believe they'll never be caught far outnumber people who believe they will be caught, but are willing to pay the fine.

Schroedinger's Glory Hole: I feel bad for the guy in the article that got diddled in a pee soaked elevator.

Sigh...now I gotta read the article.

2017-06-14 06:53:23 PM
Will it really make any difference? NY already smells like a toilet.

2017-06-14 06:53:49 PM
To pee or not to pee, that is the question.

2017-06-14 06:53:49 PM
I doubt you'd see less .

2017-06-14 06:55:44 PM
Just don't do it front of an off duty Texas cop.

2017-06-14 06:57:44 PM
I don't think peeing on the street works like that. I'm guessing most street urinators are homeless and/or drunks.

In other words, if you were inclined to pee on the street before now, the law wasn't stopping you. And if you weren't inclined to pee on the street, you probably aren't gonna do it now regardless of how lenient the law is.

So I'm gonna have to disagree with the NY Post essentially saying that shiatloads of people were NOT pissing all over the streets of NYC because they were afraid of getting arrested and now that the penalty has been softened, can't wait to urinate on the streets at every opportunity.

Call me crazy.

2017-06-14 06:58:24 PM
that's cool, you can find a spot next to the Hudson and count how many condoms you see float by during the duration of your pee.

I blame Donald Trump. He has made water sports great again.

Rats, cockroaches, bedbugs, and urine. Sex party!

2017-06-14 07:02:05 PM
Ahem.  No one in New York has ever worried about public urination.  Jump a turnstile may get a ticket.  Piss between cars? That's life!  This post article is normal nothing actually changing at all cause that's always been the big stinky apple. And it's mostly drunk dudes to boot.

2017-06-14 07:02:36 PM
Well, you don't want to get Uromysitisis poisoning and die.

Barnes & Noble is closing all its branches?
//not clicking ny post

This is a serious problem and a public health and safety issue. NYC needs public toilets or it needs to mandate that anywhere that sells drinks open a toilet to the public, even a pay toilet.

2017-06-14 07:06:40 PM
Ah.  Is this a 'throwback' decision?  I've always wanted to experience the fabled NYC I hear stories about from older people.  Chase out the boring people.  Bring back the weirdos.

2017-06-14 07:07:53 PM
What a piss-poor article.

Too many prudes.  The very thought of seeing a man's backside while he pees would freak them out.  Plus, there are still a few people who drop trou completely when taking a pee.

Funny. When I think of New Yorkers, I don't immediately think of the word "prudes" to describe them.

I've never understood that guy. Drops his pants to the floor to use a urinal.

I firmly  believe it's just one guy, and he flies all over the US constantly doing it in random restrooms.

I won't be in NYC this summer.  TFA is poorly sourced.

B/c the ratio of pissing to jerking off would not be where the city (or anyone else) would like it. At least w/o the closed doors, you can't shoot up/deal drugs, like San Francisco had.

Never in my life have I seen that happen,  who would let the pants they are wearing touch a piss spattered restroom floor?

Bums and crackheads will steal them for scrap. This is why we can't have nice things.

2017-06-14 07:20:18 PM
I believe that the only virtuous means of punishing public urinators is for them to be urinated on publically by the spectating public.

Because that's a waste of money.  It doesn't go up it or down floors like the existing facilities do.

The NYP is drumming up early support for another bum killer. Otherwise, it's going to be a boring summer.

You haven't seen him yet?

He's always in semi casual business attire, usually at airports, and always has his slacks around his ankles with his bare ass hanging out for all to see. If I recall correctly he's always got both hands on his hips and does that staring toward the ceiling thing.

I've been informed that in NYC it is proper to piss in the elevator, not on the streets.
When in NYC, wee as NYC'ers wee.

'I *was* going to piss on the side of that building, but after thinking about it, the legal punishment I'd receive if a cop saw me would be too extreme' - said no drunk guy ever.'

You should try it, it is refreshing, and just remember we are share the same seats. Even if they clean the seats on the plane I have yet to see anyone clean the chairs in the waiting areas.

WRT peeing on the sidewalk, if a city cannot provide public restrooms then they deserve the smell they get, I am looking at you NYC and SF. However given the amount of garbage juice running down the sidewalks in NYC I think urine could be considered a clean up. Smelliest damn city I have even been to.

I'm betting the kind of person who decides to pee in an elevator isn't thinking that far ahead to begin with.

He must be homeless.  His pants don't match the jacket.

"It's things like this that make it tough to do your job," the source said. "So now we're going to decriminalize the things they're doing? Now they're just going to do whatever they want."

Oh noes! We'll have to focus on busting actual criminals, and we'll lose out on confiscating $tuff from drunks and people playing music too loud under the guise of $afety. What about the children!!!!!

Elevator repair guys are really not happy when folks decide to pee in elevators. It runs through the floor into the under body and starts rusting the metal, then it drips down on the stopping mechanism and gums that up, So, when they go in to make repairs or do maintenance, not only are they working in a pit of stink, but a festering cloud of bacteria. Plus the stuff can get onto the guide rails and start rusting them or even damage the automatic braking system.

Plus, if the elevator is used a lot as a toilet, like in some public housing complexes, then the passengers get to ride up and down a poorly ventilated shaft that not only stinks, but is swirling with nasty bacteria that they get to breath in.

Urine, for a healthy person, is usually sterile, but left to fester for a few hours and it becomes bacteria and mold soup.

Personally, I think the penalties for urinating in an elevator ought to be much harsher, because doing so traps people in a dangerous environment. At least outside, in the open air, the wind and rain dilute the stuff.

As long as they remove it from the sex offenders list I'm ok with it. You got to go then you got to go.
