OK, now we need to get the evidence on Ryan, then Hatch. Tillerson is a gimme, and Mnuchin probably has a whole boneyard in his closet.

The path to "President Mattis" is looking pretty clear.

I'm liking this not only because of the list of assholes who get caught up now this, but we end up with a president who's nickname is "mad dog".

Pence said yesterday that he doesn't recall seeing any such memo, though it's possible that he just forgot since it's no big deal really. It's not like Flynn held an important or sensitive position as White House chief waiter.

/Wait, he was WHAT?

I was wondering what the revelation of the day was gonna be. I bet Trumpy's team isn't even gonna tell him.

He's gonna be pissed if they don't have Faux News in his hotel room, too. Probably order a satellite launch just so he has reception.

Flynn was fired by Obama because he couldn't keep to security protocols, and was 'careless as Hells' if you want to be generous, and 'criminally negligent' if you're not so inclined, and the Walking Cheeto said, "You're our boy" because he had a good working relationship in Moscow. Which, in and of itself isn't necessarily a bad thing. But the closer you get to Putin and his playboys, the closer you get to a network of folks so dirty that they make Pigpen look like a Gottverdammt germaphobe...

Functionally impossible.  For to get past Ryan, you need to come up with a scenario where he is removed from office at the exact same moment Pence is impeached.

In any other instance, the House will simply elect a new Speaker, who steps into the order of succession.

It doesn't have to be instantaneous.  The Presidency isn't like a monarchy, where the position transfers immediately; if the President is removed from office, be it by impeachment, resignation, 25th Amendment, or death, there is no President until the next in like takes the Oath of Office.  Similarly, if the Speaker resigns or is impeached and removed from office, there will simply be no Speaker until a new one is elected within the House, and that is highly unlikely to be a rapid process.

That farkmook Pence tried to pull the same shiat with the RFRA in Indiana.  He went on national TV to tlak about how shocked he was at the response.  Indianapolis business leaders countered by mentioning the number of times they met with him or tried to meet with him to explain how bad of an idea this was.  He's like the little kid that puts his fingers in his ears and screams, "I'm not listening!!!!!!"

Actually, the law is drafted to where the positions are moved up "contemporaneously."  So if those positions are still vacant (Speaker and President Pro Tempore), then it moves to the secretaries.

Personally, I think Matt is a good man, but I don't think he'd make a good president.

Interesting.

The papers keep harping on the point that Flynn kept his lobbyist status a secret from Pence but I've suspected all along that Pence was actually in on the cover up albeit late to the game.

I thought Ryan was already looking like he's been implicated, but Hatch is the hard one because the president pro tempore  is a position that doesn't really do much involving leadership.

Yes, it does transfer immediately by law. That's why the VP takes the oath on inauguration day. LBJ was told he didn't need to take the oath in Dallas, but chose to anyway.

Secondly, the Republican House Caucus would move incredibly quickly to replace Ryan in such a case, and woukd likely have removed him as Speaker as soon as it was clear that there was serious risk of him being charged.

Pence probably never did see it. An aide received it, acknowledged receipt, and filed it away. It's the paper equivalent of, "I sent him the email. He didn't read it and take action?  It's all his fault!"  Really it's your fault, because you used a passive-aggressive communication medium.

Just think how farking bad things are when we're not only fantasizing about jettisoning a shiat president, but eyeballing the 6 disloyal farks below him.  I'm a little older, so perhaps, I worry a bit but, if we end up with President Perry, perhaps we hit too big of a jackpot.

I prefer his other nickname, "Warrior Monk", because he has no hobbies or family and spends all his free time reading military strategy books inside his giant home library.

I think "Mad Dog" was given to him almost ironically (IE, he's the least mad dog out there).  Then again, he did come up with the motto from which Valve stole to give to Team Fortress 2's Sniper character-"Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet."

/a President who actually reads books, what a shocking concept

Yep. It's Democratic Congress' turn up to bowl, and they accidentally drop the ball on their toe. The ball makes its way down the lane and they pick up a spare. Now they're hi-fiving each other with beers in their hands, and guess who gets the blame for spilled beer-in-hair? Yup, Trump. Oh, wait... he's on a plane now, so let's just go after his Will Riker. Pence might be a lot of things, but what he IS is approved by God, by God. So there's that to contend with, if you dare.

Just go and try to pry Pence from my warm, sticky hands. Go ahead. Pry the Pence from my hands.

You're not prying. That's what I thought.
