Jello Biafra did a great spoken word joint on pot... its called "grow more pot" and i suggest people listen to it

Regarding the good v. bad thing:

1. Nothing I have seen on Fark proves that pot is either good OR bad.

2. It is currently illegal, so say what you want smoking it is wrong in the legalistic sense. Smoke it all you want, but be prepared to pay the price and don't biatch about it.

3. Accepting the pro-pot statements here, we see that several people who smoke are indeed gainfully employed, and can do their jobs while stoned (although one is a state job, that even a Special Olympian could prolly do--while stoned); and

4. My experience is that pot smokers generally live with their parents nad sit around growing tits while contributing nothing to society. Exceptions to this are addressed in 3, above.

Therefore, taking what I see here on Fark, I'd say pot is generally a bad thing.

Thanks Farkers, for reinforcing my already-help prejudice.

I gave up smoking because of the health factor. Now I vaporize, am healthier and happier. Plus, I still get the benefits of smoking... without the smoke!

Would you like your bus drivers and airplane pilots to be under the influence of marijuana while flying?

//It will happen.

Yeah like it hasn't happened already...with alcohol, no less...which is LEGAL.

I've known people who were completely normal, very intelligent people who started smoking weed and turned into slothful, fat, semi-intelligent slugs. When they stopped they went back to normal.

I've also known people who were almost completely normal and still smoked up 3 times a day.

that's why it's inconclusive in my opinion

/tried it, don't like it

Well back in my growing days sometimes some of the plants (depending on their location, many many were outside) would occasionally get different symptoms and I remember having to deal with some that also had yellow at the tips of their leaves.
It may be just a nitrogen deficiency as you claim but not necessarily so. Usually when plants are at the flowering stage they need very very little nitrogen and as you mentioned a boost of the K generally helps the flowering process.
What I ended up doing was taking various soil core samples and sending them off to the government's agricultural laboratory for trace micro-nutrient analysis since I had a friend that worked there. He would give me the full lab printouts of all the nutrients (real official like, just like they'd give the regular farmers) and the symptoms (yellow tips, or curled leaves, there were different symptoms sometimes but never anything major) could always be fixed with using a hydroponic fertilizer (usually for just a short time)that contained all the micronutrients.
It's been too long ago so I can't remember exactly which nutrient that caused the yellow tips but it might be magnesium or selenium. (just a general guess here).
But it don't seem to be a problem with you and if it is just at the end during flowering it MAY be just a lack of N but COULD be something else.
Good work anyways.

Hey Isuldirs I grow several strains, my latest is Sweet Tooth, it tastes very sweet and fruity, but my G13 tastes very hashy and skunky.

Does anyone actually believe the story behind G13 and why you can only get crossed strains and not pure breeds?

If you don't know, G13 alledgedly was the strain concocted by the US government, possibly connected with MK-ULTRA. The reason why you only get cross breeds is that only a female cutting was obtained, therefore to create (viable) seeds you would need a male plant, therefore they had to cross it with something else (in this case, the good old resinous Hash Plant (heavy Indica, possibly Hindu Kush area).

Thoguh its probably all bollocks :-) makes a good story to tell poeple when they're smoking it though.

"But seriously, everyone that I know who smokes pot is a loser. Is that enough of a reason?"

No, going by that logic, everyone that doesn't smoke pot isn't a loser.

I wasn't aware that they have been able to determine the LD50 for marijuana. (I'd go check my Merck but as I'm moving it's packed away with almost everything else at the moment).
If they have, and if it is as you claimed 21,600 mg/kg it is as generally agreed by almost everyone that it is one of the least toxic substances known.

The number I gave is for orally ingested marijuana - for inhaled (smoked) there is no LD50 they have been able to determine, because it is such a high number it's physically impossible to induce death in laboratory mice.

I'll say that again -- they have been unable to kill laboratory mice with inhaled marijuana. The LD50 for smoked marijuana in humans is estimated to be 1:20,000 or the equivalent of 1500 pounds smoked in a 15 minute time period.

For comparison, salt has an LD50 of 3000mg/kg, citric acid like in fruits is 12,000mg/kg, and sugar is 30,000mg/kg. Anything over 15,000mg/kg is considered non-toxic.

As I stated, orally ingested marijuana (in humans) has been found to be around 21,600mg/kg. The numbers Pinko_Commie gave above are for rats.

I'm a pot smoker. I'll say it loud and proud.

Also, as a Christian, I believe that God put the plant here for our benefit. I also feel the same about mushrooms.

Of course the key to everything is moderation. That goes with anything though...pot, alcohol, etc.

It's all about personal choice and responsibility. I still have to get up and go to work everyday. Besides, I have a good job with great pay...so there's no way that I'm missing out on that.

That's right people...pot smokers can be responsible people too.

3. Accepting the pro-pot statements here, we see that several people who smoke are indeed gainfully employed, and can do their jobs while stoned (although one is a state job, that even a Special Olympian could prolly do--while stoned); and

That was the greatest mental picture I've been given all day. Thank you :) Unfortunately, it's a mistaken assumption. Believe it or not, not all State employees are data entry automatons or number crunchers. I actually have to THINK, and it's wonderful.

Directly. it makes you do stupid shiat that gets you or someone else killed, I've seen it before and there've been headlines on fark before about this.

That said, I think it should be regulated similarly to alcohol

Tennessee Tuxedo, my boyfriend is in the same situation as you. He uses the good herb to help his anxiety problems, to stay focused and keep his mind under control. I know a lot of folks don't understand where you're coming from but I sure do! We were dry for about a month and it was pure hell.

I have an anxiety problem. I deal with it by having a set of balls and realizing thet the world isn't perfect, and things don't go my way 100% of the time.

Getting stoned because of anxiety is an excuse, and if your boyfriend is an ass unless stoned, maybe you shouldn't be with him.

Pinko Commie: Sorry buddy, but a whole host of federal laws say that growing, possessing, and smoking any controlled substance is illegal. PER SE.

Oh well, I did say IIRC, so i don't think i did remember correctly, did I.

Oh, and just for the record because of your earlier tereotyping, I'm 28, have been gainfully employed (while being quite a heavy stoner) for the last 8 years (since university) in the IT industry (run the network for direct marketing (spit) company), have never lost a job because of smoking, and out of all my stoner mates over the years, only two i know have ever lost a job through cannabis (both caught on same random drugs test because they went to Holland weekend before, not because smoking effected their work (and as it was a shiatty call centre job, they were prepared to take the risk) and to top it all off the only mate of mine without gainfull employment who smokes actually lives off of his Army disability pension (Gulf War 1) and looks after his son (who he will not smoke in front of).

whidbey: I don't. But to smoke it because you're anxious about something is an excuse. Be like WiseGal and smoke it for smoking it's sake, but don't give me any crap about needing it to get by. I get by without it, so can some pansy ass stool pusher that gets anxious.

Have you seen the snack food from Frito-Lay that is actually, honest-to-god called "Munchies"? It's a combination of Sun Chips, Cheetos, Doritos, and "Rold Gold" (heh heh) pretzels. Different varieties have different extras. Good lord, there's even a kids version (in a weedy green bag, no less) that includes M&Ms.

Someone knows their demographic...

It's all bs. Marijuana use is most harmful to you through smoke inhalation. But the government outlaws even researching more healthy ways to smoke anything, it's just retarded......

Kudos on your self-control, but what do you know about why someone might or might not need to smoke it?

How is that any of your concern?

sorry buddy, thats why people use water as a filter. it gets rid of the most harmful parts of the smoke
2004-05-18 01:22:01 PM
Again, why do there have to be reasons for smoking pot? Why do people have to lean on those?

I think that once you keep saying that I have to do it for this reason or another...then you need to literally put the pipe down. Can't sleep, take a sleeping pill. Can't function in society because of an anxiety problem, go see your doctor about Prozac.

Unless your an AIDS or Cancer patient taking it medicinally, then just admit that it's because you like getting stoned.
2004-05-18 01:22:02 PM
the one thing i do really dislike about pot is if i smoke to close to bedtime i never remember my dreams... on the plus side if i go a day without smoking i have crazy dreams.

when i went 3 months clean for the first month and a half i was awoken nightly by insanely vivid dreams... it was really cool.. but it farked with my sleep patterns
2004-05-18 01:24:50 PM

What? My statement didn't follow that logic at all.

My experience has taught me that either only losers smoke pot, or that pot smokers eventually become losers. I have yet to meet a person who smokes pot who doesn't also have some problems that are very undesirable. That obviously doesn't mean that other people who don't smoke pot don't have any problems, and I didn't imply that in any way. You're nuts.

djcramy's right.

it also gets your teenage daugter(sic) pregnant, causes your kids to shoot themselves, and increases the sales of Surfing Monkey Coin Banks on QVC.

This from a person that has: "Usually intoxicated while posting on Fark" in his bio.

Alcohol contributes 1,000,000 times more to teenage pregnancy and violent accidents than marijuana ever will.

And your kids will probably get the booze out of your bar. Get a clue.

Any of you that are deriding others weed consumption, yet drink alcohol like its going out of style, need a reality check. Legal alcohol is far worse for our society than illegal marijuana will ever be. Now just imagine if weed were legal.
