Not one, but two "real Americans" wearing hats in the goddamn Oval Office. Reeeal nice, Clark.

You should always remove your hat.

Because reasons.

Emily Post here to help you; looks like they ignored three separate reasons
http://emilypost.com/advice/hats-off-hat-etiquette-for-everyone/

Take hats off, including baseball caps ...
In someone's home
At mealtimes, at the table
While being introduced, indoors or out (unless it's frigid!)
In a house of worship, unless a hat or head covering is required
Indoors at work, especially in an office (unless required for the job)
In public buildings such as a school, library, courthouse, or town hall
In restaurants and coffee shops
At a movie or any indoor performance
When the national anthem is played
When the flag of the United States passes by, as in a parade

Yeah, I know.  I was poking at the fact that it's a rule at all. It's meaninGlens and arbitrary.

Rules that have a basis in something actual, like being or even having once been a sanitary issue, are fine. "Take your hat off because, well, just because" is stupid. It's as arbitrary as saying "do jazz hands when you entry someone's home".

It's silly, is all in saying.

Plus, it is a disrespect ... to Trump.

So I give it a pass.  ;)

CSB. I used to work with a guy who in a small way was kind of like him; this guy was propped up by his parents money, as he couldn't generate enough income by his own wit. Anyhow, he lied all the time, for no damn good reason; everyone lies a little, maybe you're not as close to done on a project or the fish you caught wasn't as big, but I'm talking would say at work he's going out of state, take time off, and post online that he's somewhere, and then someone I know would see him on the street in town. The reason why I'm telling this long stupid story to strangers is he would always say people are good friends and say "like a brother/sister" there would be posts online with people (say if you met a celebrity, and they are kind enough to take a photo with you, but with normal people) you never saw him with any of them at any point in real life. He'd rehash the same pics later, and tell some story. People I know would say "I know her/him, they aren't friends". It was just bizarre. It must be a clinical trait of people like him, with whatever he has.

So in 2001, Trump called Pavarotti a friend. Okay... Do we know if Pavarotti ever said anything similar about Trump? Personally, I really don't care whether or not he knows Pavarotti is dead, I'm not going to debate whether "is" is implied or not, I'm not gonna handwave it away and say "It's absolutely nothing, it's reaching" when there's other evidence of him appearing to have... memory/perception problems that are much worse, I'm also not going to say this is any kind of serious definitive proof of senility.

Trump said Pavarotti was a "great friend" in 2001. According to him, they interacted backstage, etc. Is there anything beyond just this event where they interacted to make them "great friends" or can we take Trump's word as (what appears to be the only source) they really did meet at the event described. Does anyone say anywhere else they were friends? At any point? Did Trump? Did Pavarotti? Anyone in their circles? Any other references? Obviously there's not going to be documentaries and in-depth news stories about the bromance between the two, but between that article and Trump's recent comment, is there anything else at all? They are/were both internationally known figures so I find it exceptionally hard to believe that there wouldn't be at least a dozen or so more connections over the years, especially given how they were apparently such "great friends".

It seems, for now, that we have Trump's quote from 2001 and his comment now as proof they were friends. That's all. We have Trump's word that they were great friends.

And that, as he has repeatedly demonstrated a countless number of times just this month,is not enough. In fact, his word means nothing at all.

But when there are multiple such incidents on any given day.  Over any given week.  And often on subjects that have grave implications.  Then it's no longer just one incident.  Then it's another data point showing a clear trend.

This is a brain drowning in it's own fat and plaque.  I will be genuinely shocked if Trump lives until 2020, let alone is declared competent to exercise the duties of President.

Wow. You utterly missed my point. I said I wasn't going to debate it because I don't care whether "is" should be there or not. The entire point of my post was saying that if he considerED him a friend in the past, and the sentiment was mutual, is there any other proof besides just Trump's word in one article. Nothing whatsoever about whether Trump knows Pavarotti is dead or not.

Wow, you're seriously triggered, aren't you? I'm not asserting anything at all, nor am I demanding anything. These are the facts:

1) Trump called Pavarotti "a great friend". He did not say "is", he did not say "was". Aside from reading into the statement, objectively there is no determining way to say whether Trump means they ARE or they WERE, only that, at some point in time, they were great friends. I can't say whether he doesn't know Pavarotti is dead or not. And, so you can accept this point I'll say it one more time, I do not care.

2) If we are to take Trump at his word, from 2001 and from this recent comment, they were "great friends". Trump has proven repeatedly that he lies and/or doesn't understand fairly basic concepts (who knew healthcare was difficult? who knew thousands of years of history between two countries was so complicated?). So we can't just blindly accept when he makes claims like this.

3) Due to the above fact, I asked if there were other sources outside of Trump himself to verify their friendship. I said that it seems at least a little odd that so far, outside of the article you reference which again is based on Trump's word, no one has really given any other sources. No pictures, no comments from Pavarotti, no additional comments from Trump, no comments from either of their families about a great friendship, no references about either of them being close -- from 2001 to 2017. 16 years that two globally-known individuals were apparently close friends and there's only two instances to verify this, both coming from a man who is a proven liar.

Is this important? shiat no. But you seemed... passionate about defending him. I said "Okay, maybe they were great friends. Is there anything other than just his own word that shows this?" aaaaaaand you decide I've gone off the deep end of bought into it whole-heartedly and that I'm flailing about in an overreactive tizzy. Just because I asked "Is there more?"

And actually yes, I would want to have Trump take a medical exam, considering his utterly laughable "bill of health" from Dr. Drake "The Waddler" Quack. Especially about clean air, since Trump believes asbestos is not harmful.

Oh and if you actually do find anything else to show they were "great friends" such as quotes from either man, their relatives, their friends, their employees, other celebrities, if you find a few pictures, hell if you hit the jackpot and find video of them chumming it up -- anything other than the 2001 article, then sure, I can believe it.

I'm propping up nothing whatsoever. What if I phrased it differently? What if I said "Oh man, that's so cool that they were so close! That must have been fun to see them hang out together! Are there any pictures?? Or video??" would you react the same way? Asking for more sources but positively rather than objectively?

It's not a hard question, but, somehow, I don't think your answer will be satisfactory.

Eheheh... okay, I'm walking away. You haven't answered a single thing and have done nothing but spin, deflect, and pathetically try to smoke bomb. Trump was absolutely wrong about the wiretapping. He said his phones in Trump Tower were tapped. Absolutely not true. Were people working in his campaign "wiretapped"? Yes, so to speak. Intelligence was gathered on them via a legally (and difficultly) obtained warrant. Trump Tower? No. I mean, the topic is "Donald Trump was great friends with Pavarotti." I asked "Is there more than one source for this?" and you then claimed I believe everything the "fake media" is feeding me and that I'm frothing at the mouth to say/believe anything negative about Trump. Just a slight overreaction on your part, because I said "pics?"

Donald Trump lies. All the time. He is a proven, repetitive, compulsive, and rather poor, liar:

Now okay, I'm sure you'll counter that all of these sources are just MSM liberal bullcrap, that they're "cucks" for being bought by "Soros and the Deep State" (I saw them open at the Troubadour last fall, they were fantastic), you may even toss the word "sheeple" in there somewhere. Feel free, I can safely ignore you now, knowing exactly how you operate.

Last thing though. Hypothetical: You and a friend are watching basketball and Lebron James is onscreen.

Your friend: Oh man, 'Bron is a great friend, man, a great friend. Remember that picture I showed you like, 15 years ago? The one me with me and LBJ?
You: The meet-and-greet one...?
Your friend: Best friends man, we bros. It wasn't just the one time, too. We hang out all the time, like every week. I went to the club with him last night!
You: Really...? Can I see pictures?
Your friend: Get out of my house, I never want to see you again.

Does this seem reasonable?

Anyway, I won't bother looking for your reply since it'll contain nothing but more embarrassing impotence. I'm glad we had this little chat though. Now I know to just keep scrolling whenever I see your name, confident that nothing of value was lost. Thanks man!

My bf is not a fan of opera, I would be stunned if he could name one.  So I tell him about Donnie's "friendship" with Pavarotti & he says "Isn't he dead?"

That's right: my mountain man, addicted to his video games, superhero movies & beer, who pays zero attention to entertainment that he's not interested in, knows more than Donald Trump.  I'm torn as to whether this is hilarious or scary.
