Welp, looks like the whole East Side is going to be a disaster now.

So if that really is a gas leak why didn't it all go KABOOM

wooden_badger: So if that really is a gas leak why didn't it all go KABOOM

My guess is that it is similar to that process that makes the holes in the Siberian tundra.  The gas wells up, pushing up the earth and then slowly escapes.  All the earth then falls back into the pocket created.

I'm guessing the nearest roads exits to this are Peachtree and Hellmouth.

Which crackhead is responsible for this one?

2017-04-17 02:54:06 PM
I can think of no other logical conclusion than we skipped a tribute to the mole men.

2017-04-17 02:54:18 PM
I am guessing, at this point, that the ghosts of Sherman and his army are real, and they are unhappy with the South and taking it out on the infrastructure.  Either that or God hates Georgia, or Republicans suck at running a functional highway system.

2017-04-17 02:54:48 PM
So basically the entire northern half of I-285 is going to be a permanent parking lot for the foreseeable future.

Red states:  Why would we need to invest in infrastructure?  More tax cuts for the rich!!!

Is this the handiwork of a chronic low bidder, or a well connected contractor not competent to assemble legos?

That would be been pretty exciting at about 55mph. Joey Chitwood would have been proud.

/ hey, at least our infrastructure is in good shape in this country

85 collapse, oil truck crash on 20, earthquake near Macon (in Spartaaaa!!!!), chemical spill on the connector and now 20 is turned into a skatepark (not the one GDOT didn't know about, a new one)

when do the locusts start?  and do us suburbanites OTP get to avoid those, please? we have enough bugs going on with these past (globally) warm winter

I'm glad we have a President and congress willing to tackle the important issues, like making sure our infrastructure doesn't completely crumble on their watch.

like, it *had* to be a motorcycle? a car would have gotten f*cked but the people wouldn't have been splatted on the road.

just one serious case of wrong place wrong time.

Is this how, Parícutin, the famous volcano of Mexico started back in 1943. It just sprouted one day in a farmer's field. Next thing you know it's raining death down upon the locals.

With all this ... I have to ask.   "What is Trump's position on the mole men and this clear act of aggression and war?"

Awesome!!!  He got to do it before he went to the hospital.  Good thing too, because if he went to hospital first, it might be fixed before he got out.

It's not the mole men, it's the lizard people mentioned by Icke who are responsible.

I was actually wondering what that was all about. Any engineers able to offer insight?

THIS
285 could barely handle Sunday afternoon traffic. That bridge collapse a month was bad enough. Now even more traffic will be squeezed onto it.

Fark Atlanta!

They might have thought it was due to heat buckling (thermal expansion). If that were the case, seems like you a helluva' lot of water to bring down the temperature of that thermal mass.
