No. Your grandchildren are smarter than that.  They remember their history lessons. They aren't fooled by libertarian promises of self-correcting unregulated markets. They're not dumb enough for Bitcoin.

Haven't read up on how it's going, but banks using blockchain for international payments is now a real thing.

I only trust gold currency and the security of my mattress to store it.

Remember those guys who said they were going to "take a stand" for Bitcoin and refuse to use any other form of currency, attempting to force stores into accepting it?

I wonder how those guys are doing.

Some day, that show is going to become a documentary. I know the Scandinavians are trying to get rid of all physical cash.

I understood some of the words in that article! Just not all of them

/Knows some of the issues with Bitcoin re: scalability

My granddad used to give the kids a two-bit coin when he visited. Clearly ahead of the times.

But you need a real currency to convert to Bitcoin, at least until people start getting paid in Bitcoin.

Blockchains are interesting but pointless and horribly inefficient for every single use proposed by Bitcoiners... except fraud, gambling, and buying drugs (and even then cash in person is more reliable than bitcoins and hoping a 'vendor' from the latest Silk Road actually sends you what you wanted).

That and the economic theories... oh my God how you have to be smart enough to learn all those words and concepts and simultaneously stupid enough to disregard every economic lesson from the past 200 years... it's amazingly sad.

And who denominates in $12.5¢ increments anyway?

a second stab at Bitcoin's ambitions could be feasible in 'the 22nd century when some truly revolutionary breakthrough of communication technique or computational theory may have occurred

I always like research papers that include a miracle.

Step 1: Build a massive, government-funded cryptocurrency farm.
Step 2: Embark on a marketing campaign to devalue bitcoin.
Step 3: Quietly build & acquire bitcoin.
Step 4: Embark on a marketing campaign to revalue bitcoin.
Step 5: Reveal to the world that you're the new financial hub.

Should be fun.

I bet the US will be the last country to fully get rid of cash.

/we're stupidly slow when it comes to anything money based.
