Hehehe, my computer STILL doesn't have a C: drive. ^_^

2002-01-02 03:04:03 PM
Pretty sneaky, sis. This hard drive is just as boring as mine.
2002-01-02 03:05:18 PM
What if your on UNIX? heh heh
2002-01-02 03:05:31 PM
If you name your Mac's hard drive "C:" there's something wrong with you.

is that why it didn't work for me? I'm on unix
2002-01-02 03:14:41 PM
Macs rule...dogs drool.

Every time there's a virus warning here at work, an email goes around about it with a little disclaimer saying "Mac users may disregard this message."

MUAHAHA yersself
2002-01-02 03:15:22 PM
Oh no, my work files! Now you'll find out how boring my life really is! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
2002-01-02 03:15:30 PM
Pardon, still in morning over Goerge Perrard's death....
2002-01-02 03:16:23 PM
Yes, neat. As a non-tech person-type, can someone explain exactly how they did this?
2002-01-02 03:18:12 PM
That's a pretty good little mindfark. Until they look at the source code of course.
2002-01-02 03:18:36 PM
Remlapm: We shouldn't give it away just yet, but don't worry, it really can't hurt you.
Someone will spill soon enough, I imagine.
2002-01-02 03:19:24 PM
Hmmm... I wonder if it can be duplicated in the comments section...
2002-01-02 03:19:37 PM
They just set it to show you your C:\ drive. They can't read any of the info tho, so dont worry.
2002-01-02 03:19:46 PM
oh boy.

someone's gonna be irate.

kinda like ""
2002-01-02 03:19:49 PM
they did an Iframe with your c: drive in it, its one line of code and they can't see anything on your drive, only you can :)
2002-01-02 03:21:01 PM
oops sorry guys, didn't know you didn't want me to tell :)
2002-01-02 03:21:05 PM
iframes ... Microsoft ... psha! Opera no know iframes.
2002-01-02 03:21:38 PM
Remlapm, try "View Source". See something familiar? (Not giving it away, just a hint)
2002-01-02 03:21:43 PM
All my pr0n and warez are on my J drive, you losers.
2002-01-02 03:21:47 PM
dammnit! must be some SSI or CGI
2002-01-02 03:24:16 PM
inline frame! You learn something new everyday.. No I don't, but perhaps you do?
2002-01-02 03:25:05 PM
The girls in those pictures are NOT under age. I swear.
2002-01-02 03:27:27 PM
wow, that's really clever.

I wasn't worried about security, the only thing on my hard drive is work related, and unless you want to learn about music licensing and how little money I make, it's not really interesting reading.

I just wanted to know how they went from web to c: , kind of cool if you ask me.'

Thanks for the info
2002-01-02 03:28:53 PM
methinks the FarkFilters do positive-ID on any HTML tags - and simply cut the rest. Which is why
A) iframes ain't workin', and
B) there are no longer any tricks for quoting George Carlin hereabouts, either.
2002-01-02 03:29:10 PM
You can actually open the files interesting.
2002-01-02 03:29:54 PM

"Legal issues
Since iframe embeds a document into another document, it is comparable to copying as opposite to linking (in the strict sense of the word). Thus, you normally need a permission from the copyright holders of the "inline framed" document, and you should provide adequate authorship information if that document is not yours. "Inline framing" is in this respect similar to normal framing. And the more you hide, intentionally or unintentionally, the fact that you're framing someone else's document, the more probable it is that someone will consider a legal action. (For example, the suppression of borders could mean such hiding.)"
2002-01-02 03:33:16 PM

Windoz users can click on a link and see the contents of their C drive.

this is just another example of the thousands of useless apps that Mac OS users don't have access to.

2002-01-02 03:35:44 PM
Macs don't have viruses because no one freakin' uses them.

A virus writer making a virus for Mac is like nuking the French. Who the hell cares?
2002-01-02 03:41:16 PM
my mozilla laughs at your iframes!
2002-01-02 03:44:05 PM
Neat little Iframe trick, you can also use a variation of this code to crunch someone's floppy drive when they access your page, just subsitute A:\ instead of C:\.
2002-01-02 03:46:13 PM
DemonicOnly depending on the security level in IE you have set. Play around with your settings and you'll see.
2002-01-02 03:48:31 PM
Now, question is. Could you write this out to a cookie and be able to retrieve it later? I mean it's not really very usefull. There are so many easier ways to hack a Windows machine, but nice to blackmail with?
2002-01-02 03:54:29 PM
That's ALMOST as funny as an email I got where it said my baby picture was on the internet. After some searching, it came up with a picture of a monkey!

HA HA HA HA! OH my GOD what fun we have!
2002-01-02 03:55:23 PM
hehe, Iframe tricks no worky in the comments section. Moo!
2002-01-02 03:56:03 PM
The page could use an animated gif with an "Uploading..." status bar rather than the stupid "is this yours" comment.
2002-01-02 03:56:24 PM
Didn't do squat under netscape.
