A final count of revealed 169 bundles of marijuana with an estimated weight of 3,996 lbs.  The estimated street value of the marijuana is between $1.6 million and $1.9 million.

Well, damn.. they actually got their estimates in the ball-park this time.

Crazy thought here, but if you're going to be transporting a couple million dollars of marijuana, perhaps you should hire a driver who is familiar with the local traffic laws and who has a valid license.

Welcome to the crazy world of drug smuggling. Sometimes, common sense goes right out the window.

If you are a drug dealer and you lose this much dope, don't you usually end up dead?

But that is one hell of a party there.

Maths for you.

4,000 lbs, / 12 is about 333 lbs a month which is about 83 lbs a week or about 11 lbs a day.
That's unsmokable, BUT the most I've ever seen at once time and assuming you're using this....

A quarter lb at a time, that's still about 20 days worth and if you smoked a quarter lb a day, then this would last you about 50 years.

Approximately.

it's sad and amusing how often criminals give themselves away in motor vehicles. a sane sober driver could hall a bunch of heroin or dead bodies in the back of a minivan from coast to coast without a hiccough. it's as if some people never learned to color in between the lines.

FTA:
"Doraville Police conducted an inventory of the truck prior to it being towed. When officers opened the rear of the truck, officers observed numerous bundles of marijuana. A final count of revealed 169 bundles of marijuana with an estimated weight of 3,996 lbs. "

Those officers are to be commended for taking those 150 bundles of marijuana off the streets. Who knows where the proceeds of selling 125 bundles of marijuana would have gone!

this is only if you actually believe the "randomness" of the traffic stop. In almost all of these cases of going over a line on the highway, following too closely etc its all pretext for the stop, they know whats in the vehicle already and are simply giving cover to the snitch or the intel. Sure a random stop has turned this stuff up im sure but most of them are in fact not random

Now a guy who has a vaild drivers license and / or whos white is probably a better bet but from the real random nature of police work.

Driving on the wrong side of the road, though? That's a little more egregious than simply "going over the line".

well we really don't know what that means and only have the police description. I first thought guy driving down wrong side of road or something. It could have been guy drove down narrow road and didnt fully stop at sign , which for a stop became he was on wrong side of road and went through a stop sign.

People in my neighborhood drive down the wrong side of the road sometime as people park in the street. Im sure that could easily become you were on the wrong side of the road so we pulled you over, if they were looking for an excuse

There was a huge pot bust in Pittsboro, NC about 17 years ago. The police managed to put it all in the back of an 18 wheeler truck, parked it in their police parking lot. The next day, the whole truck was gone. Stolen, right from under their noses.

I often wonder what, who, when and where about that whenever I see a story like this one.

fark, I guess. I lost my license for a period of time, but still had to get to work, and public transport was not an option. You can bet your ass I obeyed every law to the letter. Matter of fact, one of the only times in my life I wasn't pulled over was when I didn't have my license......
