KidneyStone: Mager: How much mercury is that?

Oysters aren't known for their high mercury content.

I thought the same thing and looked it up.

For high mercury content you need to go way higher up in the foodchain, like sharks, barracuda and tuna.

I ate six dozen raw at Cooter browns, 4 dozen Rockerfeller at the Pearl, and 3 dozen charboiled at Dragos.

I fail to mention the two oyster sandwiches I eat when at Casamentos.

ACME is for amateurs.  Only good in a pinch when you are liquored up in the Quarter and you get a couple of dozen fried with a softshell crab on top.

Mmmm Casamentos.

I like raw oysters but I'm only good for a dozen. Any more than that is kinda gross.

Not a big fan of oysters but I can fully agree on Dragos charbroiled. Those things are like ocean crack.

I do not like oysters, ergo, ipso facto, you people can't like them either.  That's the rule of the internet.  It's like calling shotgun, binding!

The whole "oysters are aphrodisiacs" is just bunk.   I had a dozen on the half shell the other night.

Only eight of them worked.

One day, children will ask their parents where all the scallops went, and they will be told of the one glorious man responsible for their delicious genocide.

CSB
I was stationed at Andrews AFB for 19 years. After Ms Thomas made her name in the competitive eating arena, I went into the Burger King for lunch and there she was, and they also had photos of her in competitive eating contests there.
She served ME lunch.
It was a long time ago and I'm sure she's not the Manager. Edit before post, According to a Sept 2015 article, she works 50-60 hours there a week and is STILL the Manager at BK on Andrews AFB.

/end CSB brush with greatness.

I like them well enough. But, I don't think I could eat more than 2 dozen at any given time.
528? That's just sickening.

I can't recommend any places to have them shipped to you, but if you're ever in Colorado I highly recommend Bruce's Bar in Severance.  Or if you're ever invited to a branding on someone's ranch, go.  Fresh ones are the best.

Dragonflew: Oysters do not deserve the sick tag. Gluttony does.

"O Oysters," said the Carpenter,
"You've had a pleasant run!
Shall we be trotting home again?'
But answer came there none--
And this was scarcely odd, because
They'd eaten every one.
