Boycott the RIAA.

These people are morons, Music City does not use MORPHEUS. Morpheus, Grokster, and Kazaa use FastTrack p2p software. CNET reporters are actually trained chimpanzees who get paid in bannanas
2001-12-27 11:29:43 AM
I'm just glad that I will finally be able to use Morpheus on my Mac.
2001-12-27 11:29:59 AM
Take that Hilary Rosen you douchebag !
2001-12-27 11:33:11 AM
It's too bad we as consumers don't have the will enough to tell the RIAA that if they close p2p software, we'll boycott their products. We could hold them hostage if we wanted to.

i love morpheus.. i get an avg of 600k users on at any given time and my transfers usually sit between 20k an 80k with the max i've hit at 238k.. on a standard dsl line :-)

Haven't they figured out that they'll NEVER win??

It's spelled hemorrhoid, you anal douche!

Is it just me, or did napster work better than morpheus?
2001-12-27 1:23:25 PM
Have you tried LimeWire? It seems to work pretty darn good, and unlike Napster, you don't get half-downloaded stuff...
2001-12-27 1:24:41 PM
I love observing liberals (EFF) attacking other liberals (Rosen).

I can picture Rosen crossing paths with some of her activist colleagues back on capital hill...heh heh.

um, I'm kinda of a moron, but I'm at work, and I've always wanted to download stuff like this. I can not get it to work. I'm not THAT stupid, I mean, I know how to set it up. I keep getting messages saying that I am restricted or something like that. Does anybody have anything that could help me?

2001-12-27 2:05:18 PM
If you're not able to install software at work, it probably means that you are not the administrator of your computer. Your IT department has it set that you are not able to install software. Tell them to lighten up and give you full admin rights to your computer. Their answer will be no.

2001-12-27 2:12:57 PM
Because IT folk have to install so many things, they frequently aren't very creative... you could try logging in as

Of course, if you're friends with one of them, you could just ask them to do it, but they might bust you if they're not.

If you post here saying stealing is wrong and you are Jesus Christ and that you feast on the flesh of the living and how all men wish to be like you and how noone's penis is larger than yours don't.

Just don't waste your breath.

That's a little harsh, I think, Valkhorn. All he said was boycott the RIAA.
2001-12-27 2:34:28 PM

Sorry he said a bunch of crap about how stealing was wrong regarding pirated software as if he was Mother Theresa in a few forums and I had to vent.
2001-12-27 2:41:44 PM

Lithium. You need lithium.

I pirate software. The point of that thread last night was to get you guys going bezerk. Somebody said I had lost my trolling ability. I wanted to prove them wrong.

It seems like bashing Fb is the cool thing to do here.

Fb sucks

am I part of the "in crowd" now?
2001-12-27 2:48:03 PM
props to the doctor, thanks man.
2001-12-27 2:49:55 PM
People bash Fb because he says things to make others angry; I used to get angry too, but I realize that's his (?) way of having fun here. As long as it doesn't get too offensive, it's okay. Someone to play the devil's advocate can actually be a good thing in conversation.
2001-12-27 2:51:07 PM
You're kidding; it worked?
Usually the IT guys at least all agree on something moderately obscure.

Ha! Good on ya!
2001-12-27 3:02:35 PM
Morpheus is awesome... if you use it make sure you share something, I don't care if its just a picture of your 24 year old sister who happens to be a Victoria's Secret Model
2001-12-27 3:33:45 PM
The only thing bad about morpheus is the dicks that leech files and don't want to share back. I can understand throttling back your bandwidth a bit, but refusing to share is communist. Oh, communists share, ok, refusing to share is fascism man!

happy downloading.
2001-12-27 3:37:17 PM
My favorite flavor is AudioGalaxy. Yum.

It's unfortunate, but the RIAA simply alienates potential allies in its "heroic" battle to rake in as much money for themselves as possible. More CDs/albums made platinum and gold levels this year than any time in history. Just let us swap music, figure out what we like, and buy the good stuff. No one wins when you force us to buy five crappy albums just to get to a good one.
2001-12-27 4:59:50 PM
Sorry but until you can download at better than 128kbps, Morpheus/KaZaA/ Will always be sub-standard compared to WinMx.
Nuff said
2001-12-27 5:01:29 PM
I hope morpheus, etc. don't switch completely to the gnutella network. I get lots of good results when using morpheus, while most of the results I get from gnutella are very slow or dead links.
2001-12-27 5:02:16 PM
sometimes ppl have good reasons for not sharing. some admins on certain college networks and corporate networks will cut your access off if your upload bandwidth is getting high. throttling upload bandwidth is a good thing there. the other big reason is that person is on a 56gay and they cant upload worth a in that case, why bother getting them to up stuff?
2001-12-27 5:06:41 PM

Do you mean the 128bit limit on mp3 files?
Yes that sucks, but you can also get video, software etc.

... or do you mean that you can't download at better than 128kbps? I routinely get very fast downloads at much faster than 128kbps.
2001-12-27 5:09:24 PM
Sgamer is right.

My company doesn't care if we download P2P, but they made us stop sharing after Sony Music sent us a nasty letter. Since most of our clients are major label recording artists, we really had no choice.
2001-12-27 5:13:11 PM
yea, the mp3 rating.
thanks for clearing that up.
2001-12-27 5:20:58 PM
I wonder if they REALLY hate this because it makes the "artists" they create (i.e. the Backstreet Boys, any given "diva", etc.) have to compete with bands that excel based on, say, talent.
2001-12-27 5:32:36 PM
Cool. I can just see the ad now- "hey! you got Limewire in my Morpheus! No, your Morpheus is in my Limewire!"
Two great tastes that go together.
2001-12-27 6:11:47 PM
does anyone actually pay for or purchase porn anymore?
2001-12-27 6:14:51 PM
DOCTOR:Limewire works great for me also...never had any problems..G'Day!

I used to use Limewire. It seems to have steadily gotten worse as development went on. It used to be such a great program too.
2001-12-27 8:57:38 PM
I used Napster until they pulled the plug. Then went to Bearshare and that sucked. Went to morpheus and although I don't think its as good as Napster its O.K. I have DSL and I usually download 5 at a time. By the time ive started the 5th download, 3 are already completed.
2001-12-27 10:39:21 PM
I use both Morpehus & Bearshare. Using Bearshare, I routinly get up to ~500k a second, but the bad thing is that it's a biatch to resume the download if your computer crashes or the other person logs off. With Morpheus/Kazaa, I get anywhere from 0.5k-80k or so a second, and there's always the good old "Find more sources for download" option.
2001-12-28 4:06:40 AM
Morpheus won't even run on my system. The terrorists have already won.
