Lurky McLurkerton: STDMan69: Which one is he?
[www.theroot.com image 670x412]

My wife had never seen his "portrait."
I showed her this and she asked me if George W painted it for him.

Ok, that got me to spew my hot tea.

2015-11-17 7:14:29 PM
So we can say his campaign was a . . .

naan starter?

2015-11-17 7:14:45 PM

shower_in_my_socks: BSABSVR: This will disappoint tens of his supporters. Tens.

Oh, there were more than that. More like dozens.

RI_Red: Here's a guy who ran and won [if I'm wrong, correct me] by blaming the LA governor for the poor response to Katrina, which was really too big for the state to handle and could have benefited from some actual leadership from Washington DC, then got into the gov's mansion and proceeded to show that there was literally nothing DC could do to save Louisiana from a governor determined to fark his state up intentionally.

Congrats, Piyush! You're leaving your state in the hands of a lying, cheating, shiatheel that people actually think will do better than you - though that's not a terribly high bar to clear, admittedly.

It looks like Vitter is going to lose based on the link upthread.

The GOP want him kicked out of the country until he is properly vetted.
We need to take a pause.

No, he was running for a sweet deal on the lecture circuit, or maybe a show of his own.  No way he ever really wanted to be President.  That's why he constantly only ever whatever he thought the rabid base wanted to hear.  He's just not nearly as good at celebrity as Trump.

2015-11-17 7:18:37 PM
The first time I ever heard of Jindal was when he wanted to cut funding for hospices because the people were dying anyway, it's not like he could rely on their vote or anything. I was truly appalled at what a shiatstain of a human being he was and nothing he has said or done since has improved that first impression.

Dammit, y'all with the naan puns have given me a serious craving for the stuff, and the package I had in the kitchen grew fuzzy green spots a couple of days ago. Now I'm going to have to go buy some more, and it's all your fault!

Fusion naan: you smear it with hummus and a bit of salsa. This would undoubtedly scandalize cooks from three different cuisines, but it's so good....

Chupacabra Sandwich: Bith Set Me Up: "Bobby" Jindal embodies the modern GOP's concept of "diversity": Non-WASPs are welcome as long as they don't talk about their non-WASP background, and even then, teabaggers won't give a shiat about them.

Democrats: Come as you are.
Republicans: Come as we are. Better yet, don't come at all.

When Democrats saw a man called Barack Hussein Obama and went "Okay, we'll give him a chance." When Republicans saw Obama, they went batshiat crazy.

This always comes up in every Jindal thread.

I'm a naturalized immigrant, and like Jindal, I was raised in the deep South.  I anglicized my name because I thought it would make life a little easier for myself, which twenty years ago, was very much the case.  I am very proud of my heritage, but when you're a Latino kid in the deep south, you have to be pragmatic, and going by an American name (which is actually a direct English translation of my Spanish name) definitely helped me break down barriers.  I firmly believe that and I don't hold it against Jindal for doing the same.  My siblings all did it, as did many of my cousins and other Hispanic acquaintances.  It's very common within first and second-generation Hispanic immigrants, actually.

Even Obama went by "Barry" in his college years (which is widely mocked by Republicans), so even though he did end up using his birth name for his political life, he anglicized his name for many years, probably out of a similar need to fit in.  Nothing uncommon about that.

So, I'll give ole' Bobby a free pass for not going by his Indian name.

What I do find absolutely farking hilarious is that portrait of his where his skin is several shades lighter.  Motherfarker, we know what you look like, and that ain't it.  That's fair game.  Rip him for that.

I wonder which GOP candidate still in the running will gain Jindal's margin of error.

bubbadave1056: But...didn't GOD tell him to run for President, just like he told Scott Walker, etc.?  He'd better pray that GOD doesn't push the "smite" button on him!

God only told him to run, not that he'd win.

God conveniently didn't mention anything about staying in for the primaries either.

That was then, this is now.

Barry Obama goes by Barack Obama now. Bobby Jindal does not go by Piyush "Bobby" Jindal now. See the difference? Gov. Jindal can call himself whatever he wants, but it's fair game now.

That said, it's a stupid game to play. IMO, we should not lower ourselves to that level. We can rip Gov. Jindal for the things he does and says, as well as for his economic and foreign policy ideas. That's more than enough!
