2001-12-24 05:32:11 AM

What country you in?
2001-12-24 05:33:50 AM
No, no mincepies o'er here. Actually, I have to be gratefull for the fact the restaurant is open to serve me my daily portion of junkfood...

Biggest thread is going to be tedious... record is over 800 I think. And that was about something...

Anyway, as long as no-one objects, I guess we can carry on.
If someone objects, we can debate his/her objections...
2001-12-24 05:35:12 AM

Are you a christian then? I am (supposed to be). I am supposed to be CofE .. what ever that means .. me gfriend is Irish Catholic .. what ever that means!! Fun Fun Fun
2001-12-24 05:36:53 AM

Canada, Eh?

Anyone can miss it, all tucked away down there...

Since there's no Yanks around, let's make fun of President Shrub.
2001-12-24 05:37:02 AM

800? Well we are over 100 already? How long you here for (today)?

What is a typical dutch Xmas food then?
2001-12-24 05:37:41 AM
Actually, I do not belong to any denomination (any denomination known to me, that is).

Haven't been baptized, or initiated in any other way, and don't plan on doing so.

I do think it's useful to read up on some interesting ideas like the works of Socrates, JC, Siddharta et al... they mostly agree, so I don't want to choose sides if I don't have to.
2001-12-24 05:38:42 AM

Thankgoodness .. non-Yanks are far more interesting and fun!! I dare not think what time it is over in Canada. Very early I suspect.
2001-12-24 05:40:32 AM
Dutch X-max food... that would be the "oliebollen" (Oil balls) (although I'm not sure if that's Xmax, new year or both).

They're deepfried balls of dough (usually with raisins). It doesn't sound too nice but they're quite eatable. (And they're guaranteed to blow your holiday diet...)

I'll be around 'till 15:00 GMT...
2001-12-24 05:40:51 AM

I have been christened .. whatever that means!!

I'm not really the reading type. I find it bad enough reading other peoples codes!! ;)

Ever been to the UK?
2001-12-24 05:41:41 AM
CSB: Where in Canada (approx?) You're not French are you?
2001-12-24 05:41:54 AM

Yep, 5:42 AM EST. He, he it's like a chatroom in here ;)
2001-12-24 05:43:05 AM

So you don't have Yule log then? Is turkey a normal Xmas day meal?

Are you a footy follower?
2001-12-24 05:44:26 AM

Yeah CSB you are not a french farmer are you?

Do the dutch have a love-hate relationship for the french as well? We Brits definately do!! :)
2001-12-24 05:45:35 AM
Ransom: Reading other people's codes? Why? I rewrite them from scratch, then call it a minor change. Everybody happy, and it saves time!

Yes, I've been there a couple of times... First time when I was 5, I walked around in the Lake district.

Later hiked the length of the South Downs way (from Dover eastwards), Also (I don't remember when) I crossed Dartmoor on foot...

Apart from that I've visited London a couple of times.

Still have Scotland and Ireland on my wishlist (whisky trails...)
2001-12-24 05:45:47 AM
I'm babbling
2001-12-24 05:46:05 AM
Dido:You're not French are you?

Sounds like a loaded question to me! LOL.

No, I'm not. J'habite dans Toronto.
2001-12-24 05:47:50 AM
Turkey is becoming very popular, yes.

Actually, we've got no problem with the French, really. They have a problem with us, though...

Who's footy?
2001-12-24 05:48:27 AM

I go to the Lake District once a year .. got engaged there. I go to Ireland at least once a year (girlfriends family). Irelands a cool place .. very laid back .. feels like your going back about 10 years (in a nice way).

I live just north of London.
2001-12-24 05:49:09 AM

Footy = football
2001-12-24 05:50:11 AM
CSB: C'est dommage! J'aurais aimé practiquer mon francais un p'tit peu, peut-être mon même joual!
2001-12-24 05:50:17 AM

I think the French have a problem with everyone. Especially us Brits. Is it just me or do they spend 60% of the time of strike?
2001-12-24 05:51:07 AM
Well, my question should answer yours then...

Actually, the only sport I follow (a bit) is ice skating...
2001-12-24 05:51:48 AM
60%? They started working more lately? Must be the season...
2001-12-24 05:52:22 AM

I can only guess what you are saying in french. Something about you like to practice a little french .. and then I am lost. French was never my strong point .. better than my spanish though!! And dutch .. well its double-dutch to me!!
2001-12-24 05:53:45 AM

Is ice-skating a sport!! ;) Well I assume you do a lot of ice-skating yourself then!?!
2001-12-24 05:55:40 AM

Do you normally finish at 15:00 GMT?

Over here it is typical to be let out early of Xmas Eve .. so I am just waiting for that moment. If it ever comes!!
2001-12-24 05:56:31 AM
Dido: Not on my account! Your French is already almost out of my league!

RansomTheBall:Is it just me or do they spend 60% of the time of strike?

Are you referring to WW2?
2001-12-24 05:58:55 AM

The WW2 is why the French and the Germans don't like us!! ;)
2001-12-24 05:59:44 AM
Is there only 3 people on Fark today or something?

This feels very lonely!! :(
2001-12-24 06:01:53 AM
Well, I don't skate much myself... (lost a tooth once, and kinda gave up on it...)

I start between 6:30 and 9:00 GMT, and eight hours later i'm off... Or I work longer to compensate for other days. Quite relaxed...
2001-12-24 06:04:39 AM
OK, I'll refrainf from using French then... Greek anybody? (My Spanish isn't that well...)
2001-12-24 06:05:07 AM
Ow!...That looks sooo wrong!

2001-12-24 06:06:08 AM
Good morning! This the forum, or what?
2001-12-24 06:07:09 AM
All of you people go home, diddle whatever, have a farkin large adult beverage and wait for Santy Claus.

Scrooge was an optimist.
2001-12-24 06:07:27 AM

The only other languages which I might understand are programming ones!! ;)

When I was at school (a while back now) our Spanish teachers was called Mrs Kerr. She couldn't understand why we kept asking is she had a son called Wayne.
2001-12-24 06:08:59 AM

Morning to ya.

Mr. Cynical

I will once me working day has finished.
2001-12-24 06:10:05 AM
Ransom: We'll stick to English then (reagrding you earlier comment about the programming :)

Did she have that son?
2001-12-24 06:12:40 AM
I just heard a christmas song about chipmunks roasting over an open fire... i'm getting hungry now...
2001-12-24 06:13:06 AM

Thanks .. I will ... Xmas Eve is not the time to do some programming .. but don't tell me boss I ain't doing any!! ;)

Did she have that son?

Did she have a son called Wayne Kerr?
2001-12-24 06:13:46 AM
This thread is already longer than any of yesterdays!! Now on to the 800 mark!!!
2001-12-24 06:20:50 AM
Or not.
2001-12-24 06:21:37 AM
Heh! It seem a bit busier now...
2001-12-24 06:23:41 AM
Oops! My bad. Highest mark is 1039 comments, on the "Planes chrashes in NYC" thread...
2001-12-24 06:23:50 AM
To the Continental Cousins of Christmas..a question.

Which lucky country is buying that oh so sanitized load of sugar? Switch to honey for awhile as I doubt that stuff is going to get tossed.
Two lumps of C-4, er...sugar with that tea?

2001-12-24 06:24:28 AM

2001-12-24 06:24:58 AM

This doesn't look good with "reverse comment order"...
2001-12-24 06:26:43 AM
Mr. Cynical

It was for us Brits, for our tea
2001-12-24 06:26:56 AM
