Some people have WAY too much time on their hands
2001-12-24 12:05:19 AM
Yeah, that's really gonna impress the ladies

oh, wait, no women will ever see those cases...
2001-12-24 12:06:11 AM
Case modding, when done right, can be extremely cool. Hopefully, the look enhancement is backed up by hardcore tweaking.

Wait, It's the 24th, christmas eve? Or is it not christmas eve until the sun goes down? Ot has all the beer and boobies gone to my head?
2001-12-24 12:09:26 AM

That case is the absolute coolest. Period.
2001-12-24 12:10:16 AM
Ugh...OC'rs bug the hell out of me almost as much a l337 HaX0rs. Spend a bunch of money on stupid water coolers and such to get a 2% increase in their Quake framerate, only to have their super-faster than fast CPU trumped a month later by the next chip from AMD or Intel. Bah!
2001-12-24 12:10:53 AM
You took the words right outta my mouth Rancid...

These are neat and all, but not nearly as cool as the video projector I'm using to view Fark in 72" right now. I do video/visual work for a club, and the promoter let me bring the thing home. RtCW looks really cool when Nazis are life size...

jihhad peehad i dont give a fark bad post
2001-12-24 12:22:17 AM
We're translation "Jihad" from Farci. Have you seen Farci? It doesn't use Roman characters. Thus, Jehad is probably an acceptable spelling.

Think of Chinese translations--there are always variations. Or even Osama vs. Usama.

Why the frickin potato are you correcting someone named 'Mr_craptastic.' Hes craptastic, he wont care for your insults.... silly person you
2001-12-24 12:24:22 AM

i learned in grade 2 that you're not supposed to start a sentance with "so" or end one with "so" for that matter.

Ok, I like to consider myself a computer geek, but seriously now. Go to the bar once in a while. Get laid. Do SOMETHING on a freaking Friday.
2001-12-24 1:06:32 AM
It's amazing what some people can accompolish if they're not spending all their time masturbating like crazed monkies and/or trying to be clever on Fark.

Boobies, fb- is the father, shiat, biatch, france surrenders, the terrorists have won.

Who wants to be these guys drive "PHATTTT!!1 H0ND4z!!11"?
2001-12-24 1:14:46 AM
that should have been "Who whats to bet..."
2001-12-24 1:28:45 AM
No i give he is my god of spelling now.i am such o losser:)
2001-12-24 2:15:47 AM
Nothing like shiatting on someones hard work with a pithy "too much time on their hands" quip, or pretending that they have no life, despite knowing exactly squat about their personal life besides the fact that they pulled off something cool that you didn't think of doing first.

Fact is, these guys pulled off some very bizzare and interesting case designs. Obviously these guys have a nice helping of creative talent, and don't deserve some of the rather jealous-sounding comments people tend to rattle off whenever something like this comes along.
2001-12-24 2:36:33 AM
Finally. Rice for my computer.
2001-12-24 2:44:53 AM
If you view these cases as works of art, then, hey, who could possibly complain?

The way I see it though, these case modding nuts are in much the same camp as the riceboyz who spend their tacobell paycheque on huge spoilers and rippoff stickers (yeah, like I really buy that your '93 Integra is a Type-R) for their cars.

I think case lights are an elaborate excuse by geeks who are afraid of the dark to sleep with a nightlight.

But hey, if it keeps them from joining a crime gang or getting into something really wack, like stamp collecting, then no harm done.
2001-12-24 2:58:48 AM
Big Dave, except these guys probably make a lot of money in the tech market by being programmers/admins...

Let's see, people who waste most of their time on Fark complaing about people who build cases are calling others losers, hmmmm, is this irony?
2001-12-24 3:06:17 AM
And now you know.... The rest of the story
2001-12-24 3:17:53 AM
Yeahhhhh!!!!! My first Fark submission made it! Im so cool! Now if I only had been logged in when I submitted I would have gotten credit. Damn!
2001-12-24 3:43:16 AM
Those case mods are cool looking. Probably something I wouldn't do, but it's enjoyable when someone takes pride enough in their hobbies to personalize them like that. Nice post Dbasch...
2001-12-24 4:07:43 AM
I think case modding is a far more creative hobby, and requires/displays much more skills than a lot of more mainstream hobbies - like collecting ANYTHING for instance (comics, cards, duct tape, whatever) and it sure is a more productive use of a couple hours a night, than mothernuckers who just vegge out in front of the TV every evening instead of building something with their hands and minds.

I also don't think a direct correlation can be drawn between these guys and honda ricers. Honda ricers (mostly) just buy things from catalogs and bolt/stick/screw/tape/paint them on, there is no creation. These case guys - at least the ones displayed there - actually had to use imagination, physical knowhow, care, and patience to achieve the desired result.

but then - there are a lot of "rice case" guys who just paint their case yellow and stick a blue LED where the red one usually goes. less impressive, but still better than wasting time in front of the glass teat IMO.
2001-12-24 5:20:03 AM
I've always wanted to make my own custom case, out of nice mahogany wood, with brass handles...a very refined look. I think it would really make my l33t g4m1ng M4CH1n3.
2001-12-24 5:32:09 AM
Got Southparks Chef stuck on mine.
2001-12-24 6:29:37 AM
I only wish I could make a case as cool as these... I bet any one of these guys could get a job in the industrial design field. If they aren't already! Some farker had to design the iMac for christ sake! Imagin if someone mass produced some of these things? They would sell like hot cakes.
2001-12-24 8:09:59 AM
Epson gave away flame stickers for PCs three years ago. I got a pile and keep putting them on my macs, which is a LOT easier than spending days painting them. But then again, I get out of the house more often than the leet tend to.
2001-12-24 8:24:31 AM
they call this one "the envader"...

[image from too old to be available]

...because this is where the gerbils live before they "envade" Cold Dog and Lord Pheaton's anal cavity.
2001-12-24 8:38:51 AM
Fark these guys. I just mounted Harley straight pipes on my case. My fan will never be the same.
2001-12-24 9:33:50 AM

Pretty, but most of them (especially the 'flame job' plexiglass one) will run pretty hot. Even the water cooled systems need a lot of air to air circulation to work.

I susespect if these guys had been around 40 years ago they would have been making hot rods. Lord knows I would if the hobby hadn't become so incredibly expensive [insurance, vehicles, etc..]
2001-12-24 10:00:35 AM
That one with the cigarette lighter looked quite nice. I wonder if they sell them?
2001-12-24 10:50:20 AM
These were mostly cool, but who wants the commie one?
2001-12-24 11:38:03 AM
Sublimaze - the guy whomade the case calls himself EnVaDoR, not the case itself.
2001-12-24 12:26:29 PM
Speaking of hot rods, there's a company that actually sells PCs shaped like scale-model cars. Can't find the URL right now though.
