(Slate)   You may have not heard the name Denniz Pop, but he was the Swedish DJ who discovered Ace of Base and founded the modern pop music scene. So if you want to know who ruined music, it was him   (slate.com) divider line

That's almost as bad as her 'Are Friends Electric' cover.

Someone stop Little Boots before she Caligulas all over the synthpop scene.

And to think, all I've discovered was that dried-up, petrified lettuce heart that fell behind the kitchen counter a few years earlier. To this day I don't know how it was preserved so well and never rotted.

Ishkur: Justin Beaver: But what set Elvis aside, is he had talent. Now-a-days, it's all about how hot/cute you look on an album cover and talent takes a back seat

That's not Elvis, that's Fabian. It was all about how hot/cute he looks on an album cover and talent takes a back seat.

Ishkur:

If Italians make such great pop music, then why do they waste all of their time making the worst prog rock?

I Like Bread: Theaetetus: Denniz Pop invented Pop? Right... Next you'll tell me that video games were invented by John Videogames.

Hey, I donated to his Kickstarter!

Fano: DjangoStonereaver: Ace of Base? You mean the band fronted by a former Nazi skinhead punk rocker?

You read Cracked too? They've been going on and on about it.

I used to read cracked religiously everyday,  until a year or two ago,  they just became nothing but "everything you do is wrong" and "here's why everything you like sucks,  and you should feel bad for ever liking it" articles. Has it changed at all? I miss Swaim...

It's gotten worse as they tend to do a superficial "pop culture is awful to women and minorities" with articles like "5 problematic things you never noticed about My Little Pony" where they also keep being smug white guys too. It was a shame because I thought the first couple podcasts were pretty insightful. Now it generally is a "why you should hate the things you like," but I used to like their listicles ok even when everyone on Fark was complaining about them, their writing usually brought something to the table for "5 wackiest Batman villains"
