"Look, when I said I wasn't going to raise taxes, I meant that I wasn't going to raise taxes on the rich. Are you rich? No? Then STFU, because I work for the Koch's, not you."

2015-06-16 4:53:52 PM
As Governor Brownback also explained, any problem with the bill is the fault of the Democrats in the legislature, because they did not present their own budget plan that Republicans would accept.

Reality is whatever the GOP says it is.

"The minority party put forward no proposals to solve this issue [THAT I CREATED]. None," he said.

Fixed.

Republican math.

2015-06-16 5:51:18 PM
Let me see if I understand this.  The majority party has screwed things up more and by putting a tax burden on the poor, they hope to make up for the shortfall, but it only counts as increasing taxes if it is a net gain against the state budget?  Hey Brownback!  YOU STILL HAVE A SHORT FALL WITH ALL YOUR OTHER TAX CUTS!

Congratulations, Kansas you got exactly what you voted for....

Funny how income tax was supposed to be a temporary measure... almost 100 years ago to help fund the 1st world war. Every f*cking government on this stupid ape infested planet is addicted to taxes.

Chickpeas, Liberace.

How did he get anyone to vote for him? I'm assuming it involved massive lying and character assassination.

Only a politician and his toady hangers on, could spin a tax increase, as not a tax increase, even though it is a tax increase.

Aw, hell, this isn't an Onion article.

FTA: "Gov. Sam Brownback denied Tuesday that a bill hiking sales and other taxes counts as a tax increase because it comes on the heels of massive income tax cuts passed three years earlier."

Sure, and try explaining to the FBI that robbing a bank shouldn't be counted as a crime, because you once dropped some change in the Salvation Army kettle.

Does he plan on running again hoping that the poor people just wont vote?

2015-06-16 6:24:50 PM
I have no problem with paying taxes at all. I would like to see the money used much better but I have no problem with them as a concept. Who are these people who vote for a guy based on the fact that he promises a tax cut? His voters don't even demand that he even promise a specific amount.

2015-06-16 6:25:07 PM
Yet when there was talk about returning to the Clinton era tax levels, it wasn't a net-zero tax adjustment, it was the BIGGEST TAX HIKE EVER!

Dear poor GoP voters in Kansas.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

The issue is that after brownie eliminated the taxes on small businesses; every single farmer in Kansas turned their farm into a LLC. Nobody thought that was going to be an issue. The mathmagicians say it will be at least 12 years before it works as intended.

Brownback blamed dysfunction in Topeka in recent weeks on Democrats despite the fact that they hold less than one-fourth of the seats in the Legislature.
"The minority party put forward no proposals to solve this issue. None," he said. "They just wanted to see it fail."

This is my favorite part. Your goddamn party has an iron grip on the entire state legislature, and you couldn't pass a farking budget without breaking out the cat-o-nine tails. But yeah, a Democrat proposal would have brought unity and peace to the entire land.

2015-06-16 6:31:29 PM
I wonder why Republicans keep making it harder, more time consuming, and expensive for folks with little disposable income to vote.

Doesn't make sense.

And services will be cut and roads will crumble and Republicans will get elected again because, "government is failing you!!1!!"

So I take it you are in favor of returning business and property taxes to where they were before the first world war? Adjusted for inflation and growth of both government and industry, of course. Because that is how governments were funded back then. Sounds good to me.

Yeah, those pesky amendments to the constitution.  All of them are supposed to be temporary measures.
Hey since the 16th was only temporary, doesn't that make the 2nd as well?

More money was received from the Koch family than was sent to Governor Brownback in Kansas? No surprise. The bothers took their cut.

Governor Brownback gives more taxcuts to the Koch family?

That's what Mr. Brownback is paid to do, honey. Nothing else matters to Mr. Brownback except that he accepts more. What side of your bread is it buttered?

Probably, I will get banned for this comment.

If Fark doesn't ban obvious trolls, I doubt you'll get banned for speaking the truth.

You really can't admit that this rests squarely on the shoulders of Republicans, can you?

2015-06-16 7:10:18 PM
He's just giving the poor more incentives not to be poor. If they didn't want to be poor then they'd make more money to absorb the higher tax, er, incentives!

2015-06-16 7:11:09 PM
Meh. Some state has to be the real-world example of what happens when you let Republicans have whatever they want. I mean, you can run simulations and whatnot, but the best way to demonstrate how shiatty Republicans now are at running things is to just give them a state and let them run it into the ground. An unimportant state with relatively few people and almost no political power whatsoever. You don't want to waste an important one, like Floriduh or Ohio.

Kansas may have pulled ahead a little in the contest to become the deliberately worst-run state* in the U.S., but I bet Wisconsin, Oklahoma or maybe Louisiana will give the Kansans a run for their (greatly reduced) money.

* California is also terribly managed, but I think that actually is mostly incompetence. Let's face it, no state seems to have great leadership, the bar is set so farking low, one of them would have to try to legalize slavery or actually secede (instead of just yapping about it) in order to really stand out in the shiatty government pantheon.

Ok, seriously, has no one in Kansas started the recall process on Brownback? And if not, why not? Can no one there afford the $100 filing fee anymore?

Apparently Kansas voters enjoy him as being raped by their governor.
