Maybe if the children weren't so sexy, they wouldn't appeal to pedophile priests. So really, it's the kids' fault.

Good lord. This is the kind of crap that got you demoted in the first place. I'd love to see Frankie chastise this mook a little more. Make him the Bishop of Nauru; or something.

/ Nauru is the second smallest nation on earth

// the smallest is Vatican City

Hey now, just because this mook is an ass, doesn't make the entire religion an ass. Short of defrocking; they really can't get rid of him. Cardinals are, in essence, princes of the church. Before about 1917, the Pope could make anyone a Cardinal; regardless if they were a priest or not. But, they can sure as hell give him a shiatty assignment.

There's been some muttering going on in the US branch of the Catholic church. Some of the Bishops really don't agree with what Frankie is doing. If he's not as delicate as a master thief; some of them might actually schism off.

/ The last time I heard muttering like this is when the Mass was retranslated from Latin. The previous English version, which has been used since the 50's, didn't really correctly convey the message. Some priests kept on doing the old version.

What did Jesus say about plucking out your eye if it causes you to stumble? I'm sure Frankie would be OK with entering the Kingdom of Heaven with one eye.

Jesus said a lot of stuff. Most of which is taken completely out of context. But, I do agree on this one.

Honestly? A lot of gay catholic men and women saw, and continue to see, membership in the clergy as their out. And, if you give a person power over others; some people will use it responsibily, but, most will abuse it.

/ does that excuse or explain their actions? Hell no. I'm just saying that the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

The clergy has perceived spiritual power over their flock. If there is one person most people trust, it's their pastor. If you see them preach about loving you neighbors or whatever every Sunday; you'll have the tendency to trust them. But, at the end of the day, they are just human.

Basically, I'm saying that nobody (ok, there might, MIGHT, be a couple) gets into the preaching business intending to molest little kids. But, it's kind of like the frog in the frying pan. If you turn up the heat slowly; the frog never jumps out and gets cooked.

/ they don't just molest a kid one day; it's a slow thing that happens by degrees over years and years

// basically, I'm saying that most people start out with good intentions and very rarely see themselves as a villain

Oh come on, subby.  I'm no friend of the Church, but surely he didn't say that, exactly...

<click>  Son of a biatch!

"I think there has been a great confusion with regard to the specific vocation of men in marriage and of men in general in the Church during the past 50 years or so," Burke told The New Emangelism (TNE) in an interview published Monday. "It's due to a number of factors, but the radical feminism which has assaulted the Church and society since the 1960s has left men very marginalized."

"Unfortunately, the radical feminist movement strongly influenced the Church," Cardinal Burke complained, "leading the Church to constantly address women's issues at the expense of addressing critical issues important to men;

<facepalm>

 the importance of the father, whether in the union of marriage or not;

Okay, I can get behind that.

the importance of a father to children;

No argument here, though I doubt we agree on the specific form that takes...

the importance of fatherhood for priests;

Um...

the critical impact of a manly character;

Really, man - you should have stopped while you were ahead...

the emphasis on the particular gifts that God gives to men for the good of the whole society."

OFFS.

Benevolent Misanthrope: the radical feminism which has assaulted the Church and society since the 1960s has left men very marginalized.

Inorite?

Since the 1960s, they've been the majority in both houses of Congress (and in each major party's delegation), held every Presidency, held a majority of governorships and judicial positions, been the majority of CEOs and priests and cardinals and rabbis and imams and cops and lawyers...

But men are SO marginalized. Pretty soon, they won't hold a huge majority of the levers of power, and then where will we be?

// Communist Ubekibekibekistanbeki, that's where
// I'll be damned if I'm ever forced to learn how many bekis there are
// I'm aware you're quoting the homophobe in the bright red robes

Apparently, saying "Hey, we're not inferior, we should be treated as equals," is an assault on..I don't know. But its totally an assault on something.

Who the f*ck does this Pope think he is?! Making women equivalent to men somehow.

I'm j/k. Conservative Catholics are scum.
