(Springfield News-Leader)   If you take your car airborne 100 times and there is a 1% chance each time of a fatal wreck, what are the odds your cell will have a south facing window?   ( divider line

Dumass.  You do this on long empty county roads with no sidewalks or pedestrians, in bright daylight, when there is not a car or person to be seen till the horizon.  That way if you flip and roll, you'll only kill yourself and possibly a desert turtle.

"Hogue's attorney, Gary Collins, argued Hogue had gone hilltopping many times before and that the crash was a result of very dark conditions. He said there was no lighting on the road and conditions were cloudy that night. "

"Hogue, while in the hospital after the crash, reportedly told a trooper he had gone hilltopping on that stretch of the road "a hundred times." "

So, by extent, Hogue knew the road very well, knew there was no lighting, knew it was 'cloudy at night' ,ie. dark, and did it anyway. This makes the attorney's 'defense' a patently stupid and blatantly misleading.
I recommend the time awarded to the defendant be split in two and the attorney share the cell with the defendant. Perhaps next time he won't be so stupid to blame his defendant's actions on 'the dark'.

That said, it really is a sad, stupid accident done by a kid not thinking of ramifications and possibilities; he sure as hell didn't do it on purpose...
I've jumped cars, motorcycles and even boats getting my thrills but rarely risking anyone else though. I got lucky 99% of the time and never hurt anyone but myself, so I'll take my lumps.

Be careful kids, Darwin, the World and the Universe really don't care if you are part of things and probably the biggest danger to you is yourself; so wear protection when you masturbate...

Members of Hogue's family, speaking before the verdict, said hilltopping has been a normal part of growing up in the Ozarks and didn't believe Hogue deserved to go to prison, even if found guilty.

I really wish that these 'tards would only kill themselves.  Then this would be funny.
