I once found a Furby that was dying. Its battery was really low and its eye movements were sluggish and its voice was drawn out and really slow. It was actually kind of sad and depressing. So, I left it on the front porch, thinking it belonged to one of the kids in the neighborhood. And it was! The next day there was a note thanking me for finding their pet. I hope the kid was not as traumatized as I was at a dying Furby.

Old myth/sales tactic. The furby couldn't communicate, really. It simply had a "vocabulary" that would unlock over time. A sensor made it jabber more near other furbies, but that's it. No data transfer.

Yes...yes they do. My oldest daughter bought me one as a gag b-day gift. A week later the farking little critter started into it's *swear mode*. Funny as hell. It still sits on top of one of my ham radios. It still cusses ...*have to remember to shut it off before I key up and talk to someone* LOL

It's a myth I said! Furbies do not learn. They're programmed with a time-delay vocabulary. They already "know" all the words they'll ever use.

Urban legend. Teddy Ruxpin used proprietary multichannel data/audio tapes that synchronized his facial expressions with the audio. Most album audio tapes wouldn't work, and some wouldn't even fit.
