liam76: That isn't really "vegas", but I get your point. Outside bachleor parties I only go there for a day for cheap flights and check out stuff I can drive to from there
MBooda: ds_4815: Epcot's dining selection is farking greatWhich planet's Epcot are you talking about now?[www.disneyfoodblog.com image 500x375]
Gulper Eel: Orlando turns parents into idiots. My normally-sensible wife wants us to do a family trip to Disney World some summer and all I can think is "Florida in July? How about NO."Seriously, screw Disney. If you've got little kids take 'em to Story Land or Santa's Village up in New Hampshire. It's way cheaper, it's not usually stupid hot, it's fairly uncrowded except for the North Conway outlet strip, and there's a lot of other things to do other than watching your wallet get hoovered.
mbillips: Seriously, subby, casinos suck. Gambling is for retards. I would argue the point about Disney World, but then I'm a person of sufficient means to not look at the price of cocktails, souvenirs and meals when I go on vacation (I'm not rich, but I have a solid cash position, and I don't go on vacation very often). The Mouse is very good at entertainment, and you pay full price for it.Pretty solid list, actually.
APO_Buddha: So anyone ever been to Stuttgart, Germany? I'm going to visit some friends for 8 days at the end of September. It is during Oktoberfest, but I want to do some other things besides drinking beer./Don't worry Farkers, beer drinking will still happen
DrPainMD: List fails without Bourbon Street. Yeah, the bars are cool, but they're crowded. The food is awesome, but the entire French Quarter smells like fermenting vomit and rotting urine. And check for an adam's apple on that hot chick who wants to blow you.
bark_atda_moon: I have been to Houston and Galveston. Galveston is only interesting because a lot of houses are built on stilts.
cgremlin: Skarekrough: But you never really know a city until you get ahold of a vehicle and get off of the main drag.This. I guess I'm kind of weird like this, but part of what I enjoy most is just seeing how people in far-off lands live. I've been to Paris, and did the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, Sacre Coeur, etc, but I think the part I enjoyed most was just wandering around the city and seeing the everyday things that Parisians do. Same is true of London (didn't go to South London though), Munich, Edinburgh, etc. One thing that I enjoy doing that I doubt anyone else does is just visiting foreign supermarkets - I *love* the little freewheeling buggies they have in many English supermarkets that just don't seem to exist in the U.S.. :-)There are certainly entertaining things to do and see that are marketed towards tourists in every place, but it's fascinating to see how those who live there just go about their lives, and it really doesn't cost anything but your time.
Joe Peanut: Honolulu HI, specially Waikiki beach. Honolulu feels like a mixture between Reno and Miami. And Waikiki is a narrow strip of sand next to a wall of hotels, each with either a DJ or a lounge singer at the beach front bar/restaurant.
WhiskeyBoy: But all the real fun Vegas has to offer is NOT on the strip.
pkellmey: Expecting some place to look like it is in your head can be disappointing? Good to know.
QueenMamaBee: I didn't think Vegas was all that bad. I was far more disappointed by Philly than I was Vegas.
Muta: Niagara on the Lake. Plenty of good food, good wine, good theater and a cool (ish) fort.
buntz: The Canadian of the Falls isn't much better.Yes, you have a better view of the Falls. Then......what?Clifton Hill? 19 wax museums and tourists.
