(The Blaze)   The Blaze is shocked -- SHOCKED -- that the 9/11 memorial has a gift shop, because people died there. After all, we don't have gift shops near Gettysburg or Niagara Falls or any other place where people died   (theblaze.com) divider line

Half of me really wants a Photoshop contest for items in the gift shop. The other hand is terrified of what farkers can do when challenged.

The Blaze would've found a way to be just as outraged and offended if they didn't have a gift shop.

I guess they were just as upset 1993 when the Holocaust museum opened with its gift shop. Or in 2000 when the Oklahoma memorial was opened with its gift shop. Oh wait, a black man wasn't in the white house.

The hoodie is $39, which is reasonable for NY. The water bottle is insane at $21 and the book mark is $13. The tote bag is a better value at $15, but the Christmas ornament is priced to sell at $23.

A lot of people have died there. But no one complains it's crass to have a gift shop (and hotels and the Maid of the Mist, etc. etc.)

Also hates it when people use 9/11 for their personal gain.

Which is a great reminder that I have to make as much money off of that as I can.  There is a huge 911 market out there.

Well, I felt compelled to check out the Blaze's store on their website.  I guess I'm a bit of a masochist.  Anyhow, I found this gem and thought I should share with the group.  Behold!
For the low price of $49.95 you can have The Constitution Quest Game!

i595.photobucket.comView Full Size

The game is full of twists and turns, wild cards provide checks and balances, and the only way out of detours is through "We, the People."

I wonder if there's a Fartbongo piece.  They also had this there with it, so you know that it's MADE IN MURICA MADE IN!

I guess these idiots think massive fountains, architects, security guards, homeland security, landscapers and maintenance staff all work for free. Souvenirs kinda pay for all that. Why do teabaggers want the government to spend more?

Seriously though, I went there recently (museum wasn't open yet). It's a poignant, though-provoking and peaceful place. Wonderfully done.

It's easy to die in Da Falls.  Just take a stroll through the parts of town with all the abandoned buildings, and threaten any suspicious characters you might see.  The coroner's wagon will soon be by to pick up your bullet-ridden corpse.

I've seen gift shops in churches. Hell, they're based on a religion which was founded because somebody died for our sins. And that generally runs with the idea that we will die for our sins if we don't shape up, fly straight and pay 10% of our money to the organization while recruiting new suckers converts.

How about a plastic BVM for your dash board? We're out of Saint Christophers. He's been de-canonized any way, but we'll have a new order in next week. New order, get it?

I'm more concerned the built the damned thing as large as the did. It's a giant drum to bang on whenever someone wants to use terror to drive us to war.

The Vietnam war memorial is just about right, a scar in the landscape reminding everyone of the pain of war. It's just not used as a drum because it doesn't fulfill any agendas.

As long as it's not CNN. They'd broadcasting about the gift shop for 24 hours, with reporters interviewing employees at other gift shops and theories about gift shops from inside a gift shop simulator.

You grossly misuse we estimate the derpers' propensity to link anything that don't agree with to Obummer. I mean, a Tea Party but could get an overcooked hamburger at McDonalds and use it as sole reason to call for impeachment and/or resignation.

It has nothing to do with race. It has everything to do with the fact that you have thousands of news sites that have to fill 24/7/365 with news. So, any little nibble gets eaten like it was six course meal. This is a fluff piece that is being trumped as headline news because dammit, we need site clicks. Fifteen years ago this would have barely made an editor's column in a local paper. Times have changed.

No it's not. It used to cost about that much to go up to the WTC observation deck. If I want to go into a hole in the ground and see twisted wreckage, carnage, and the worst of man's inhumanity I can just take the subway.

"But.. but.. how can we turn it into a shrine to war and nationalism if you go and commercialize it!?"

Everyone wants to exploit the 2,996 people that died, just in different ways. It's fun watching the tug o' war of greed, anger, and exploitation - the little flag in the middle of the rope drips blood in such interesting patterns...

Wondering about that ashtray...because if it says 'Auschwitz' - or it's supposed to say that - there's the little problem of Auschwitz not even opening up until May of 1940, and the date on there says 1938...

Mine were all actual prices. The stuffed rescue dog is a great parting gift for little kids. Only $20
