After Kansas passed its tax cuts Rex put on all his ads saying we'd better do the same, but we were all like, "Well, I don't know..." Now that we see Kansas imploding, we're going full steam ahead.
We just needed some solid proof that it's a truly bad idea before we went ahead and implemented it. That's why they call it the "Show Me State".

As someone who will benefit greatly from this tax cut... what the hell.

A 6% income tax isn't really all that bad in comparison to everything else. I highly doubt it'll attract anything to Missouri.

Other than reduced funding for education, our horrid roads, etc.

Missouri's tax cut is a less aggressive version of measures recently enacted in Kansas, which also lowered its top tax rate and fully exempted certain categories of businesses from taxes. Last week, Moody's Investors Service downgraded Kansas' credit rating, citing its sluggish economic recovery. It said the income tax cuts were putting pressure on the budget and creating risk for the state's financial future.

Not being familiar with the Missouri income tax but just from reading the article it appears that the state income tax is somewhat regressive in that the highest tax bracket kicks in at only $9K. This would appear to put even the poorest int he highest bracket. Almost a flat tax so you know it benefits the wealthy and any reduction will benefit them the most in terms of $ saved.

I don't know who'd celebrate it, but you have the rest correct.

I think the article insinuates that because Reps were so happy to ride that tax cut horse to Victorytown that this would be celebrated by their constituents. I can understand, now that everything else has been verified, that this is not an everyman celebration.

Good luck, Missouri. The southeastern parts of the country continue their sinkhole approach to politics.

109 + 46 = 155; 155/3 = 51.667 (52); 52*2 = 104.

NO. The Republicans in the House DID NOT need Democrats' help to override the veto. The 108 Republicans who voted for the override were more than the number necessary.

ONE Democrat breaking ranks on a vote that would gain approval regardless of his vote DOES NOT mean Democrats helped fark over the citizens of Missouri.

ONE Democrat voted to fark them over: Rep. Keith English, whose constituents might - or might not, depending on their opinion of the bill - want to ask him some tough questions.

But, the important takeaway here is this: A lone Democrat casting a vote that had zero effect on the outcome = BSABSVR.

That only means that the tax cuts were not big enough. Cut it more, and the revenue surge from new business will cancel the effect.
