D'oh! I've known about this site for years! Why didn't *I* think to submit it... (hangs head in shame)
2001-12-08 03:26:14 PM
I agree it is neat, but what would you use it for?
2001-12-08 03:36:59 PM
Well, um, just because you're a geek, I guess....

Ha. Good one Borg. You beat me to it. Keep them coming. I was thinking this would be fun to ad to PS or Fark Logos.

I've spent countless hours at this site making different signs, with stuff as the way it could have been, or just messing around with it.

Borg9: Is that an outline of Florida? If so, it's not a boobie, but a weener.

I can use PhotoShop.
I can tune my father's 12 cylinder Jaguar.
I can synchronize the carbs on my motorcycle.
I can curl a woman's toes 5 times in one hour.

But I can't figure out this damned program!!!

Ok, this sucks again, and I am showing my complete n00b skillz here.
2001-12-08 04:36:22 PM
oh well, here it is, I am too lazy to make it work.

2001-12-08 04:38:25 PM
Catisonh, your host just doesn't allow offsite usage of the file...I typed the address and it worked fine, then showed up in this thread from cache. (Short answer: just post links.)

Can anyone else get the custom test to display? On the signs I make there's space for them, but the actual text I type doesn't appear.

I would love to use this to make some logos, but it won't work if the text isn't visible!

Please mods, can we get some intelligent, thought provoking articles. Perhaps a photoshop as well?

I have been really good at not being a whiner, but it shore feels like Jerry Springer Weekend here at fark.
2001-12-08 05:32:56 PM
i think for the sake of boredom we should self-photoshop this entire entry.

send in your photoshop billboards.. :)

Catisonh -

There really is an I-69. Runs from Indianapolis to the Canadian border a little north of Detroit, about 250 miles long all in all. And I've driven the entire length of it, too. ;)
2001-12-08 06:16:08 PM
Bigpeeler 5 times in one hour, hu? What are your plans for the rest of the weekend?
2001-12-08 06:39:28 PM
I'm in the same position as Volksweasel.

*Looks around for noose to hang himself in shame*
2001-12-08 07:21:56 PM
Wow... I want one already.

I can see it now!
A big sign I can put on my lawn saying:
"Private Property,
Trespassers will be shot,
Survivors will be shot again."

E. Twig: Once again, true genius!
2001-12-08 09:17:44 PM
E.Twig LOL!

I can also vouch for I-69, since I used to live off of exit 94...officials have quit replacing the business loop 69 signs near the MSU campus. Wonder why they kept dissapearing
2001-12-08 09:41:14 PM
Bigpeeler maybe you are over qualified.

E.Twig which is not to say you are under qualified! you and peeler do some of the best photoshop work and your signs are great.
2001-12-08 10:48:04 PM
Aw shucks, thanks. (Toes the ground boyishly)

A long day of doing whatever the hell I do on Saturdays makes my mind feel like Jell-O
2001-12-09 12:41:08 PM
what's with all the dead image links?
2001-12-09 08:14:19 PM
Damn! Shut down by his web host. Anyone want to donate space?
2001-12-09 10:45:22 PM
I have gotten a response regarding the shutdown from the creator of SignMaker himself via the misc.transport.road newsgroup. It may actually have to do with the popularity of FARK, but that is just my guess. Here is his reasoning:

Bad news: SignMaker (and TD71) have been taken offline. Traffic for those pages has spiked (more than 10x normal), and I've been getting charged for excessive bandwidth, on top of the normal monthly fees. $10 to $16 US a day can add up fast. I haven't determined why this is happening yet. Even on "Yahoo Day" in 1998 (Signmaker makes Cool Site of the Week) traffic wasn't this high, and I wasn't able to find any news or links online saying "Hey everybody, go try SignMaker." If you've seen anything touting SignMaker (Yahoo? CNN? Oprah?) please let me know.
