ransack.: That truck weighs a lot more than 2 tons. My Silverado 1500 weighs 5400 lbs. Unless they meant the cargo capacity .

That's usually what people say but not what they mean. That truck should have a max gross of 7-8 tons but it's hard to tell without truck nuts for scale.

Lol, a very long time ago I'd just gotten my driver's license - on my 16th birthday. My Dad needed several dump truck loads of stone hauled about 15 mi round trip from a gravel quarry out in the middle of nowhere to a piece of land we owned - also in the middle of nowhere. Only one major intersection (traffic light) the whole way - and it was at the bottom of a very long hill.

He borrowed an old dump truck and overloaded the damned thing about 3x over it's limit - the load was completely bottomed out. My Dad told me to drive while he rounded up the next couple loads in the quarry with the front end loader. (It was stone that was too big to go through the crusher).

I climb in and don't even get to the ramp to drive up out of the quarry before turning around and going back - white-faced and tell my Dad the freaking truck has zero brakes.

He laughs and tells me to slow down early then. When I point out I don't have the correct class license to drive the truck, he tells me that will be the least of my worries since the plates/inspection and registration have expired as well... so don't hit anything.

I pop over the hill at a whopping 5 miles an hour in first gear and did the old Fred Flinstone-foot-to/through-the floor attempt, and dragged on the parking brake.

Went through that traffic light intersection - engine screaming - at about 40mph. Luckily the light was turned for me.

The next three trips I stopped on the top of the hill and waited until the light tripped before going down.

The last run, I came around a blind corner and there were fricking chickens all across the road. I didn't even try to veer; there was no place to go, and with that much mass I was like a small locomotive engine, I'd have driven through someone's house. Somehow they all came out the back - some minus a few feathers but gtg.

/One of many - that time my Dad tried to kill me - stories.

Yes they meant the capacity. Your truck is a 1/2 ton.

It's still the cutest li'l dumptruck ever. It's a modified pickup.
