I don't know much about him but occasionally it's good to get some actual citizens in office instead of career politicians or people who are trying to become career politicians.  I'm not saying that people in government don't use their position for the good of society but sometimes it's good to get someone from the outside in there as a representative of people and not just lobbyists or advocacy groups.
The problem with politics in general is that there are a lot of people that seem to be more about winning elections for the job instead of doing the job they were elected to do in the first place.

His Sketchy character is played as a drunken foul-mouthed lout and a line like "in one of my drunken stupors" is just what you'd expect him to say. If he did nothing but repeat actual Rob Ford quotes he'd be totally in character.
