Omahawg: Peter Green!!!!!

You wish. I almost threw a brick through the TV when the Today Show kept saying "the original members" were getting back together.

CSB: I saw Peter Green with John Mayall at the Fillmore West, more than a decade ago.

I DO like the headline, subby. That's pretty good.

This would be a good show to watch, and my wife would enjoy it. Hope they can keep from fighting long enough to pull it off.

Saw them last year, easily one of the best shows I've been to in a while. I took my dad, as I grew up on old casettes and CDs (I'm 29).

Managed to sneak up to the front row.. and watching Lindsey Buckingham play the guitar is soooooo weird. Amazing, but like nothing I'd ever seen before.

Well Bob Welsh is not available.  Do they ever play anything before "Rumors" on tour tho?  Also it's amazing how people don't know that "Black Magic Woman" was a FM tune.

...or that "Fleetwood Mac" was the name of a Peter Green song before it was the name of the band.

They played "Oh Well" on the Tusk tour, documented on the 1980 Live album.  Don't know if they've acknowledged it since.

I watched a crappy YouTube video of Lindsey Buckingham playing big love on acoustic, I wish I could find a studio copy because damn that song is haunting.

No, if you look at the related videos it's in there. It was just him playing by himself. He plays it a hell of a lot faster.

Awesome.

I'd go see them, my dad was into them, had a bunch of their albums on vinyl back in the day.

I found the story on Mick Fleetwood's chance meeting with Lindsey Buckingham to be amusing on the Sound City documentary. This goes into a lot more detail but the short story is Mick was checking out studios in the area and got a sampling of a Buckingham/Nicks album to hear how the studio sounded. When Welch left, he decided to call the studio to find out who the guitar player was and offered the spot to Buckingham, the catch was if you wanted him, his gf had to come along too.

Awesome song. The Beatles might have ripped them off with the "Sun King" track on Abbey Road.

I was surprised to see Christine expressing interest in coming back after so long. Then a couple weeks later I saw Fleetwood Mac listed among the top 10 most expensive tour tickets for 2013. No longer is it a mystery to me.

Yeah and the album before 'Rumors' - 'Fleetwood Mac'.

Saw them when they toured to get their name back and saw the 'Fleetwood Mac' tour - they warmed up for
Ten Years After.

And 'Oh, Well' just may be their best song ever - like something from out of the firmament.

Here it is from 1969...

I don't bemoan being old mostly because of growing up and living thru the Golden Years of Music with Cheap Concert Tickets.

No kidding. I pull out a bag of old ticket stubs every once in a long time and am stunned at that reminder.

They sorta announced this on Twitter a few weeks ago.  I remember playing some of their newer stuff on the radio in the mid-90s.  It just didn't sound the same without Christine McVie.

I'd go see 'em in a heartbeat.  Once upon a long long time ago, when I worked for a greenhouse and plant care company in Phoenix, I took care of the plants in Stevie's Phoenix house.  The garage for her Mercedes was carpeted.  Very strange ;)

Buckingham and Nicks did an acoustic version on Letterman:

Jump to 7:50 or so.  It;s just him, her and his acoustic.

Not really my favorite song, but it seems like it's a 'better' version of the one you posted.  Just have to jump to the right time index.

I have seen the Maricopa County records (I worked for a mortgage company at one point) , and there are a few articles online referencing her property ownership.  She, apparently worked at one in her youth, but I have known about the investment in three locations in Phoenix proper.

Yup, that's from "The Dance." Aside from Stevie not quite being able to hit the highest notes anymore, damn near every song on that performance is better than the original version. The version of Tusk on that album is fantastic. Look for the DVD though, the CD doesn't contain all of the songs (Go Insane, etc.).

Peter Green won't ever be back, because there's not enough money to include him and also because you're better off remembering the wild, Les Paul playing guy from the early 70s, instead of today's Peter Green. Very different people.
