I didn't get the joke either, so far as the references go.  I didn't think they were photoshops, they were so well done.  Excellent photoshopping, hillbillypharmacist.

(The follows is not directed at hillybillypharmacist)

What I really don't get is the liter hate because some people didn't understand the joke.  How are they (we) taking a dump on their work because we haven't read the source material?  That isn't a commentary on the quality of the work (or the joke) - it just means we haven't read the books in question.  I'm sure there are people out there who think civilization is collapsing if you haven't read all of the Star Wars or Star Trek books or something.  You wanna slap us for not having partaken of media 'X', fine.  Whooptee doodly doo.  Instead of being a dick, you could just take the opportunity to spread info about something you love in a nice way.  You sound like a reddit reader whinging that "Reddit had it first, so you Farkers suck!".  I don't want to even visit there because of those jerkwads, and in a similar way you are poisoning the well with your hipster-like attitude about us unread heathens.

Now that that shiat is out of the way, again - nice work hilbillypharmacist.  If I hadn't been told the artwork was fake, I would have believed the covers were real childrens books.  Well done.

brap: Hoot!

Children's books always make for great shoop fodder, the juxtaposition of childhood innocence and adult themes reminds us of the touchy balloon clown that makes us wake up screaming and going to therapy well into our mid-thirties.

this seuss-like non-children's book always makes me chuckle..

good job, dragging out the same tired argument that lamesauce folks have been dragging out for years.  now, I will drag out the counterpoint to that tired dull point you made. "If $5 is that important to you, then I pity you"

Now, we will move on because I dont really care if you buy TF or not.

I tried TF once and just had it coasting on auto-renew for a while. When I got married and we combined accounts we started questioning each other's spending. When she asked me if TF was worth it, I pulled the auto-renew. I couldn't find anything worth paying for in it. $5 isn't important, but what TF gets you is even less important.

LazyMedia: Don't you people read? The Road is not a suitable subject for a "Child's Early Reader" book, because it's grim and horrific. Same goes for the other titles. That's the joke.

Obviously true, though I have to say, if we're just limiting the discussion to Cormack McCarthy books, The Road is like a Dr. Suess book compared to Blood Meridian.  As much as it would fark a kid up emotionally to read The Road, any impressionable kid who ever reads Blood Meridian would instantly turn into a sociopath.

jaylectricity: What am I missing? I don't see any photoshops, just drawings in some children's books.

I'll take that as a compliment.

If this isn't what FarkUs is about, I don't know what is.

Maybe begging for money. That's also what FarkUs seems to be about.
