(Columbus Dispatch)   'Doonesbury' creator Gary Trudeau is no longer drawing daily comics so he can focus on his TV show, but that's not stopping readers from assuming this is all part of a vast, right-wing plot by newspaper editors to silence him forever   ( divider line

Hahahahaahahaha. I'll go with unicorns, they're far more likely real.

06Wahoo: fusillade762: Benjimin_Dover: What right-wing editors?

The paper's editorial staff traditionally has had a conservative slant.[5][6][7] The paper's last endorsement of a Democrat as a Presidential candidate, was for the re-election of Woodrow Wilson in 1916

Finding only one example really only helps to cement his argument.  But I'm sure papers such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, The LA Times, The San Fransisco Chronicle, etc. are glad you think they slant to the right.

One example is plenty when it's THE NEWSPAPER WE'RE TALKING ABOUT.

I have it on good authority, when Starbuck's finally stuck their toe in the tie-in water, they went HUGE with Doonesbury...Zonker blendeds, Doonesbury-emblazoned 'bucky mugs, the whole thing.  It was an Edsel-sized failure, cost them a ton of dough, so they blew all the crap out quick.  They refused to do co-branding on anything for years, when they finally eased back into it with Blue Note, Amazon & the like they made a mint, & realized far too late their problem was that nobody actually gives a fark about 'Doonesbury'

Mrtraveler01: Its like the idiots who are upset at my local paper dropping Millard Fillmore because they think the libs running the paper are trying to suppress conservative thought.

Given that Millard Fillmore's core audience is the only one still subscribing to paper delivery, that might be a mistake. On the other hand, they are dying off in droves.

GentlemanJ: Personally, i was happy to see the 1970 strips again. If they don't make sense to you, it's because you weren't alive then.

Well, that's one possibility.... or he could just be dumb as a bag o' hammers.

My local paper has taken to running (what I can only assume from the crude artwork) super-old Doonesbury strips that don't make any sense to me.
