Didn't that almost cause a nuclear incident with the Russians once before? Is this really the best time to be doing such a thing?

Scrotastic Method: They shot down one of these?

I want to believe!

...because it would be even more awesome than the SR-71, and that takes some doing.

Nobody biatched about their tax dollars being used for this yet?

We watched this one.  Got a pretty good photo too, but I'm stupid with picture uploading and the like.  At the same time, we were listening in on the live feed from the research station and they'd been trying to launch this rocket for days.  Each time they were becoming audibly more and more desperate to launch the damn thing, one lady scientist was becoming particularly unhinged. You could just hear the very loathing everyone else had for her by the time they got that rocket up.  I'm not sure what would've happened had they had to call the whole thing off, but there would've been a spectacular scene between some nutty researchers and the launch crew.

It's easy once it's dropped it's payload. drops to 1/4th it's speed. But GLA rocket positions still have trouble shooting it down
