I can't wait.

A local bar has GoT bingo and specials every week.  An entire bar and no one makes a sound for that hour, every TV is on the same thing, the volume is up enough that you can hear everything.  One week a bunch of sorority girls were there when the show started, within five minutes they paid and left, apologizing on the way out for being too loud.

I bet she gets some of it done before the end. But it is RR we are talking about. He's only really given us one death we really really wanted. The reason are taken right to the point, and then the bastard finds a way to live...

I've seen the series so far but have only read the first book, which the first season followed very closely. I understand the books and series diverge somewhat, but if one thing is constant is that the more you want someone to succeed the more tragic an end George RR Martin has planned for them.

So I'm not getting my hopes up.

I think she'll succeed but she'll succeed right after some kind of peace has been reached. The vengeance we've all wanted (and a few seasons earlier would have solved so many problems) will only result in fracturing whatever peace has been reached and plunge everything back into violence.

It's like, in this universe, we process time linearly. Forward. But outside of our space time, from what would be a 4th dimensional perspective, time wouldn't exist. And from that vantage, could we attain it? What we'd see is our space time would look flattened like a single sculpture of matter in a super position, every place it ever occupied. Our sentience just cycling through our lives like carts on a track. See, everything outside our dimension - that's eternity...eternity looking down on us. Now to us, it's this fear. But to them, it's a circle.

In eternity where there is no time, nothing can grow, nothing can become, nothing changes. So Death created time to grow the things that it would kill, and you are reborn, but into the same life that you've always been born into. I mean, how many times have we had this conversation? Well, who knows? See, you can't remember your lives. You can't change your lives. And that is the terrible and secret fate of all life. You're trapped in that nightmare you keep waking up into.

Well rumor has it that GRR Martin promised his wife he wouldn't kill off Arya because it was her favorite character.  At any rate, not to spoil much but after getting kicked around Westeros for the first three or so books, Arya makes out all right compared to other likable characters.

Hopefully the show will make everything in books 4 and 5 more bearable. I swear no one would blame Martin for taking those two books, hacking out all the extraneous crap, condensing them into a single coherent volume, then re-branding the original books as appendices or "uncut editions" something.

It sounds like they're going to incorporate certain parts of Books 4 and 5 into this season, but I have no idea how much.  I'm very interested in seeing how the producers handle 4 and 5 and what they're going to consider extraneous.  I'm assuming Georgy Porgy has told them what they need to keep so that when they adapt "Winds of Winter" it'll make sense.

From what I've heard, Martin gave the show producers a rundown of how the overall story is going to wrap up before the show even made it to air.  That way, they're not stuck if he stalls too much in writing or croaks before finishing.

That was awesome.

I love and I hate the twist that most of what's gone on since Viserys' death and the wine merchant has been Dany's dream.  I love Khal Drogo and can't wait to read about 10,000 Dothraki screamers raging across Essos and invading Westeros, but dear god that's one hell of a retcon.  It'll be interesting to see how much of the character change that happened to Dany in the dream are going to stay with her.  Hopefully "Winds of Winter" will clarify what events in Westeros were and weren't part of the dream.  "Dance of Dragons" ended pretty soon after the revelation and didn't get into that much.

For those who haven't read the books, just sit back and relax.  Don't get all choked up over hated characters that are still drawing breath and when the deaths do come, they'll hit you like a shot to the balls.

In the meantime, just enjoy a slice from one of the pies Wyman Manderly was thoughtful enough to bring to the feast.

They can also take up time by doing a bit of the backstory of Robert Baratheon's ascent to the throne.  Martin is constantly referencing it in the books, and I would think the showrunners would have to touch on it sooner or later.

I know it won't happen, but it WOULD be awesome if Arya killed all of those people.

What the book does with her is disappointing, as I like the character so much.

The show should start deviating from the source material at this point. Wrap it up in two more seasons.

Thanks, George Martin. You did good, but we don't need you anymore.

Did you even read the book?  Westeros IS the dream.  Dany was drugged and kidnapped by Faceless Men in the house with the red door and she's been imprisoned in a lightless dungeon so long that she's hallucinating different perspectives.  The narrative is starting to fracture and the chapter names are becoming more abstract because the sweetsleep is building up in her blood and threatening to kill her.  Sheesh.

Like the story needs MORE assassinations.

We already have to keep track of a ton of dead main characters. Adding an assassin like Juaqeen, or whatever his name was, who could look like anyone at any time killing off any minor characters as well and the season will only be two episodes long before we run out.

^^ This please ^^

I read all the books after Season 3 ended, and the first three books tell one of the greatest stories I've ever read and it was impossible to put them down. Books four and five were a slog, and I had to force myself to keep reading just to finish them. I kept hoping they'd get better, but the didn't. There's good stuff in there, but it's incredibly drawn out, and surrounded by hundreds of pages of ancilary material many won't care about.
