I'd be happy if they just stopped being arseholes for a while.

FTFA: The real question as I see it does not revolve around why Crist fled into the more inclusive arms of the Democratic Party. Rather I wonder why more Republicans of any social conscience, not to mention survival instincts, haven't done the same.

I think I found the problem.

Removing Rick Scott from office and getting medical marijuana voted in....Nov 4th could be a great day for Florida.

Remember remember to vote on the 4th of November.

geek_mars: Most Republicans don't follow Crist because it wouldn't benefit them. Crist is in a unique position.
When he was governor he did well enough to be appreciated by his constituents, regardless of party. Since his exit from the Governor's office, the vacancy was filled with Rick Scott, who is unpopular with all but his cronies and the ultra-right, so much so that Floridians are ready to replace him with any qualified candidate who isn't outright evil. Crist is popular enough that it won't matter if there's an (R) or (D) behind his name when the other choice is Scott.
I'm not sure of how many other places something like this could work. Wisconsin, maybe? Kansas?

NC is getting to be like that.

Because following Christ's example would require them to be humble about their faith in God, give selflessly, reserve judgement and treat their neighbors as they would their own family, and treat the poor better than the rich.
