Joe Six-Keg: I, too, have to wonder how this will be spun. There are folks who have an unreasoning hatred of everything Iran. People, place, culture... everything. If it's Iranian, it's bad. Yes, their religious institution has been claiming "Death to America!" for decades. Yes, they use it like Hawaiians use "Aloha!". The times are changing, and so are the people on both sides. Hopefully, this is something that will continue.
Summoner101: Didn't we already know the current Iranian president is less of an asshole than the former Iranian president?
ikanreed: Summoner101: Didn't we already know the current Iranian president is less of an asshole than the former Iranian president? That depends. Are we republicans? Because I'm pretty sure if we're republicans, Iran has to be exactly the same as Nazi Germany.
Serious Black: Obvious propaganda stunt. Next time he'll be the one authorizing the nuke drop on that hospital.
Muta: Iranian people probably roll their eyes when they hear about 'the American devil' the same way we'd roll our eyes when we hear about the 'Red Menace'.
Uncle Tractor: Have they added any new "facts" that weren't there the previous time that article was used as "proof" that this never happened? Because if they haven't, then I'm not going to waste more time on it. There were facts in it, but none that disproved the existence of the eugenics program. It was just a poorly written hasbarah piece.
Uncle Tractor: How about you quote the proof part of the article?
Uncle Tractor: Also, don't you find it just a little bit suspicious that CAMERA is the only website / blog that has managed to "debunk" the israeli eugenics program? (do you know of others?)
Uncle Tractor: The women's testimony could help explain the almost 50-percent decline over the past 10 years in the birth rate of Israel's Ethiopian community. According to the program, while the women were still in transit camps in Ethiopia they were sometimes intimidated or threatened into taking the injection. "They told us they are inoculations," said one of the women interviewed. "They told us people who frequently give birth suffer. We took it every three months. We said we didn't want to."
Uncle Tractor: You can find the links in my posts. Enjoy.
Uncle Tractor: Yes, because 1974, 1999, and 2004 are all the same period
Uncle Tractor: I see you conveniently omitted the bit about "primitive, dirty, agitated, aggressive, and hostile to Jews" in your little quote.
Uncle Tractor: It's "irrelevant" because it clashes with your narrative.
Uncle Tractor: It's not jews; it's Israel, and you know it.
Uncle Tractor: *CAMERA*? You're using CAMERA as evidence of anything? Really?
Uncle Tractor: BTW: Your CAMERA article was ripped apart the previous time you Israel-apologists posted it on fark. It disproves nothing, yet you keep on posting it.
murray208: You said it was a raging bestseller. That means it has some _current_, _popular_ support (and not popular as in popular amongst antisemetic literature, popular in the general population). I'm sure you could find evidence of that if it were true.
murray208: NOT A BESTSELLER. I know you can only move the goalposts at this point, but please try harder.
Uncle Tractor: Huh ... fark threw away the link.
murray208: Yep, that's obviously a bestseller and not at all anecdotal. Say, I heard you can buy Mein Kampf on Amazon. Sound the alarm!
Uncle Tractor: 1999:Israeli school textbooks as well as children's storybooks, according to recent academic studies and surveys, portray Palestinians and Arabs as "murderers," "rioters," "suspicious," and generally backward and unproductive. Direct delegitimization and negative stereotyping of Palestinians and Arabs are the rule rather than the exception in Israeli schoolbooks.
Uncle Tractor: Referring to Israeli texts of the '80s and '90s, Bar-Tal reports: "Geography books for the elementary and junior high schools stereotype Arabs negatively, as primitive, dirty, agitated, aggressive, and hostile to Jews ... history books in the elementary schools hardly mention Arabs ... history textbooks of the high schools, the majority of which cover the Arab-Jewish conflict, stereotype the Arabs negatively. Arabs are presented as intransigent and uncompromising."
Uncle Tractor: So I've got three examples; from 1974, 1999, and 2004. I guess this means that anti-arab bigotry in israeli literature is not the works of a small group of extremists, not a passing trend, but a permanent fixture of the israeli eduction system.
Uncle Tractor: It's a "rabid post-zionist joke" because ...you disagree with it? Sounds like the "self-loathing jew" script to me.
Uncle Tractor: Before the early aliyahs, the driving force behind anti-jewish bigotry was Christianity -- not Islam. The history of the sephardim really highlights this.
Uncle Tractor: Yes, because every bad thing that ever was done to a jew was motivated by hatred of jews.*eye roll*
Uncle Tractor: Being a minority often sucks ...even for the black jews of Israel.
TappingTheVein: Oh yes. The "but..but..israel" approach.
TappingTheVein: The most notorious anti-semitic literature being a raging best seller in Iran is purely coincidental ? Iranian academia teaching anti-semitic jewish conspiracies is a joke by the lecturer ?
The Repeated Meme: It seems that, despite all the extremely generous offers of financial compensation to come to live in Israel, the Jews in Iran - perhaps one of the oldest Jewish communities in the world - have been quite happy to stay in Iran
murray208: Not even wrong. What are you talking about? What list? When? Or do you mean best seller in the sense that it 'was sold'?
Uncle Tractor: All countries have a gutter.
Uncle Tractor: Why does this surprise anyone? It's about Israel, not jews.
Uncle Tractor: Once we were alarmed when we discovered anti-Israeli propaganda, accompanied by racist caricatures, which was included in textbooks used by refugee children in Gaza. And now it is clear, although only few parents know about it, that we, the Israelis, are employing much worse material of racist hatred which is accompanied by caricatures no less racist.I guess it's not racist when israelis do it.
Uncle Tractor: Israel and zionism is the driving force behind today's hostility towards jews, so yes, it is.
Uncle Tractor: You, apparently.
mayIFark: /Just trying to figure out why right wing nuts will try to spin this.
super_grass: Iran has been 6 months from a nuclear warhead for the past 30 years or so. Many people stopped taking any warnings about Iran's threat seriously sometime during that time.
Captain Dan: I'm unconvinced. Iran's interests are presently best served by deception.Let's say, for the sake of argument, that Iran is intent on acquiring nuclear weapon capability, and wanted to avoid external sanctions/inspections. Could they do that more easily with an irritating asshole like Ahmadinejad as their public face, or a nice, moderate guy like Rouhani who gives money to Jewish charities? If you're trying to figure out what a nation is really planning, it's a better idea to study their interests than to listen to what they say. I'd apply the same scrutiny to any country.
Begoggle: Who will Christians hate now?
DROxINxTHExWIND: I don't even think its that the poeple are changing. I think it's that the voices who have been out in front are changing. The old leaders of Iran probably no more speak for all of the people than GW Bush or Dick Cheney spoke for me.
porcupine tree: Is it irony if you're ridiculing one group for making a sweeping generalization, by making a sweeping generalization about them?
Joe Six-Keg: Yes, their religious institution has been claiming "Death to America!" for decades. Yes, they use it like Hawaiians use "Aloha!".
whosits_112: kona: Iran's Jewish community is the largest group in the Middle East other than in Israel, numbering about 25,000.tmykReally, I never would have guessed, other than that it was mentioned in the article...
