GBB: I think they are trying to give you a hint. An 8-hour hint.

I'm a volunteer driver for the local senior center.  I drove one guy, about 65 or so, to the DMV to get back his license.  I wasn't being nosy and just chatted with the guy about random things on the way there.  Then waited about an hour while he had a hearing.

Turns out he lost his hearing and was FURIOUS that those scumbags wouldn't give him his license back.  Then the story came out.  He'd been arrested for speeding over 100 mph several times, because... he used to have a Harley, wrecked it, barely lived, and now only had this crappy Buick and he really liked to go fast, and no one should be able to tell him what to do!

Apparently the state wanted him to take a defensive driving course, and this is what set him off.  I truly hope this guy never gets his license back.  I suspect the average person could get the information down in 20 minutes, but the courses are more designed for the ones who'll never quite understand that they're the problem.

About 20 years ago, here in Illinois, there was a proposal for a program, where you basically would turn in your elderly relatives, who shouldn't be driving.  A pol, running for office, decried this plan, saying it was just like the Nazi era, and the equivalent to turning them in to the Gestapo.  Guess who won the election, with the help of the senior vote.
