Given the number of NFL players that self-medicate, this doesn't sound like a bad idea. A high-stress profession that tends to give you a lot of chronic pain, and also requires you to eat a lot to maintain your weight? It's like pot was invented for NFL players.

steamingpile: VTGremlin: Removing marijuana from the league's banned substance list likely would be difficult because the federal government and interstate commerce laws still consider it illegal and prohibit it from being transported across state lines.
Erm...no? You just remove it from the list. See how easy that was? The federal government isn't going to fark with the NFL for something so piddly and everyone knows it.

Its not that simple, they don't want to piss off the people who allow their monopoly to continue.

As a former pothead, (for reasons due to employment) the total "screw you" mentality angers me.

I used to smoke a joint when I got home from work doing heavy physical activity and I woke up fine with no issues. Now I have to medicate myself with vodka, and deal with the repercussions of a shiaty hangover the next morning.

Now after an alcohol-induced hangover, I feel like I got hit by an 18-wheeler instead of feeling like I got a good nights sleep.

Awesome indeed.
