(Metro)   It isn't often that street protests are described as "apocalyptic" but these photos of the riots tearing Kiev apart are a blazing exception   ( metro.co.uk) divider line

Wtf is with these people? Can't they get anything done without acting like a bunch of animals, destroying everything?  I sometimes think that Americans are the only civilized folks on Earth.

lazymojo: I didn't know protestors came equipped with matching camo, kevlar vests, helmets and gas masks...

Turn on your cable TV and check out Duck Dynasty, Doomsday Preppers, whatever Ted Nugent's show was...it's really not all that uncommon for a human to have military-like stuffs like lying around.

Plus, it's Eastern Europe, they probably just went and borrowed their older brother's leftovers from the last ethnic cleansing or something.

letrole: is this the thread where wannabe edward r murrow losers spend a few minutes on wikipaedia trying to figure out who's who before they provide in-depth analysis of how this event has affected them personally?

It's like you can actually see me in my bed eating Cheetos. How did you do that? Viva the revolution!! Boo Putin.

Jeebus! That is awful looking, looks like a movie set. Still nothing on the news about Ukraine, just the cold weather, Bieber and the Olymipics. I did see a tidbit about the state of the union today.

Good luck to anyone there.

MemeSlave: It can happen in a socialist state, because people have nothing to lose - anything destroyed, anyone injured, the tab will be picked up by society.

In the US people have too much personal investment in their lives, so they won't risk this type of open warfare.  Plus the US government is better organized and more vengeful.

Feeding trolls, etc,..

Why does everyone think that socialism means nobody owns any property? Furthermore, why does anyone think that current "socialist" countries are actually socialist?

Go to Vietnam (one of the few self-proclaimed socialist states) and steal someone's motorcycle. They're not going to just let you walk away because "society will pick up the tab"

They want freedom and they know that allying with Russia is about as far from freedom as they're going to get.  Putin wants to rule with an iron fist over all of the former Soviet Union and the only thing stopping him from using troops to achieve his goals is the chance that the world would step in to stop him.
